  1. Starting in SCCM 1511 you have the option of enabling the new Software Center through the client settings. The new Software Center will show application deployments to both user and computers as well as Update and Device Compliance. In SCCM 2012 application deployments to users showed in the Application Catalog and application deployments to computers showed in Software Center. Glad I could help! New Shortcut Path: C:\Windows\CCM\ClientUX\SCClient.exe Old Shortcut Path: C:\Windows\CCM\SCClient.exe

  2. Windows 7 does not support Secure boot in any way, so that's a big no no, you need Windows 8 or later to work with Secure Boot.

  3. We are moving from SCCM 2012 R2 + SQL 200R2 both on Windows Server 2008 R2, the new boxes are all Windows Server 2016, using SQL 2016. We are setting up a completly new primary site (albeit in a different 'resource' domain) we could have just joined the new and the old together and migrated everything however the old setup had so many inconsitancies and issues. We also decided to take a look at all the apps and make sure they were setup correctly- drop any old apps, introduce new/updated apps etc. in some cases i have exported apps, however you have to go change the content location, especailly if its in a different place, however thats simple. I've also taken the oppurtunity to redo all our device collections, mainly to help with the user admin/role based admin, as previously all the SCCM users were full admins so we are 'locking it down' this time around. Once we are done we will just drop the boundaries from the old site, add them to the new site and push the new client.

  4. Ransomware has been around for a few years now but up until yesterday, it wasn't that well known about. This latest RansomWare called WannaCry has changed that for ever. Ransomware encrypted data on at least 75,000 systems in 99 countries on Friday. Payments were demanded for access to be restored. European countries, including Russia, were among the worst hit. Companies around Europe were hit and investigations are underway to see who was responsible. This was such a big attack that Microsoft released patches for unsupported operating systems (such as Windows XP) to allow those businesses still running them, a chance to protect themselves. Guidance available In addition to making patches available, Microsoft has published guidance to explain what is necessary in protecting yourself against this Ransomware and any others based on the same vulnerabilities (SMBv1). These vulnerabilities were patched by Microsoft in March of this year, but of course there were no patches (at that time) for unsupported operating systems such as Windows XP. Download Patches for unsupported Operating Systems To patch your unsupported operating systems, get over to this url and download the available patches. WannaCry has multiple vectors, but you should remove one vector, SMBv1. Do as follows 1. Block 445 inbound 2. Install MS17-010 3. Remove SMB1
