how can I install SCCM 2007 in Windows Server 2008
anyweb replied to anyweb's topic in Configuration Manager 2007
looks like you are using the upgrade media from your screenshot.... try using the correct media for installing sccm 2007 sp1 -
do you mean using SCCM ? if so yes, but that would be by using a task sequence in the OSD section of SCCM
-
let me test it here.... ok not working for me either, now i just need to figure out why.....

how can I deploy Windows Server 2008 using SCCM 2007 sp1
anyweb replied to anyweb's question in Deploy Server 2008
Adding Server Roles and Features With the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit installed and MDT integration added to SCCM you are also given the opportunity to install and configure server roles and features. Note: There is a bug in MDT 2008 when adding roles and features to Windows Server 2008 64bit, they won't get executed at all unless you perform the following workaround. If you are deploying Windows Server 2008 X86 however, continue below as normal:- In the Task Sequence, select State Restore in the left pane, and highlight Install Software. Click on the Add drop down menu at the top of the Task Sequence, and select MDT from the choices available, then select Install Roles and Features. Note:If the MDT section does not appear then you most likely have not added Microsoft Desktop Toolkit integration to SCCM 2007. In the example below we will configure our Task Sequence to make this Windows Server 2008 an Active Directory Domain Controller. In the Task Sequence, select Active Directory domain controller, click Apply when done Now that they are added, you will want to configure them, so lets configure Active directory domain services first by clicking on the Add drop down menu followed by MDT and then Configure ADDS. enter your choices from those available and note that the drop down menu (which has Forest pre-selected) will decide what options are available to you depending on what you pick. If you want to configure where to store the AD database, logfiles and sysvol and other advanced options then click on the Advanced button. click Apply when done and then click Ok to exit from editing the Task Sequence. Continue on to the next Part >> -
why would you run the advertisement again ? assuming you want to deploy an OS to some computers then start using Deployment collections that have task sequences permanently advertised to them something like this, then when you need computers imaged you add them to the relevant deploy collection and sccm takes care of the rest, no need to worry about them getting the advertisement twice as the advertisement program rerun behaviour is set to never rerun

ActiveWin has published their usual in-depth review of the new Windows release, in this case, Windows 7. It's 70 pages long, and divided up into 26 sections. "Should you upgrade? Most certainly, there is no on the fence, if’s or buts about it. This is a major upgrade both Windows XP and Vista users will certainly see benefits from. Vista was of course a hard sell because of the major architectural changes it introduced, Windows 7 reaps the benefits." via > http://www.osnews.com/story/22219/Review_Microsoft_Windows_7_RTM more > http://www.activewin.com/reviews/software/operating-sys/windows7/index.shtml

Optiplex 960 seems to take forever to boot to PXE
anyweb replied to etruscan's question in How do I ?
it may be possible by uninstalling the WAIK, reboot and doing the SP2 install, however Microsoft have explicitly stated that they will not support production systems that have been upgraded from beta or RC to SP2 so keep the RC in your lab unless you are a TAP customer cheers niall -
good questions using SQL 2008 or SQL 2005 as the database is preferred as you can properly manage the database and it's way more extendable than Windows Database Using the WSUS website is also preffered as this separates the IIS resources

what was the problem exactly ?

how can I setup ISS for SCCM 2007 in Windows Server 2008
anyweb replied to anyweb's question in IIS/apache/web server
well i think all the errors are because of where your SQL server is, ie: it's remote... so, why did you set it up with sql on another box ? and have you made sure the firewall is not blocking any sql traffic and..... have you added the SCCM computer account as a local administrator of the SQL box ? -
Update rollup for System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1
anyweb posted a question in How do I ?
A update rollup package is available that enables Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) to support clients that are running Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7. This update addresses the following issues: Back to the top Issue 1 Windows Server 2008 R2 clients and Windows 7 clients cannot register themselves to Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 site servers that have their management point role set to native mode. Therefore, the management points cannot provide these clients with installation prerequisites, client installation files, configuration details, advertisements, and software distribution package source file locations. Additionally, the management points cannot receive inventory data, software metering information, and status and state messages from these clients. Back to the top Issue 2 The SMS Agent Host service (CcmExec.exe) crashes when it handles the pending Statement of Health (SoH) updates on Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7 clients. Therefore, Windows Server 2008 R2 clients or Windows 7 clients may randomly have an incorrect SoH state. In this case, Network Access Protection (NAP) compliant clients cannot access network resources. Non-NAP compliant clients have unlimited network access. download hotfix > http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/974236/en-us -
"Starting October 1--and for a limited time--those in the U.K. will be able to preorder Windows 7 for 30 British pounds, according to a Microsoft Web site. In a Twitter posting, Microsoft said that U.S. college students will be able to get the software for $30, but the Web site it linked to does not yet have details on the offer. 'This offer is specifically designed for those students who are not planning to purchase a new PC this year but would still like to take advantage of what Windows 7 offers,' a Microsoft representative said. Those who order the software will be able to download it when Windows 7 ships on October 22. Students interested in the deal need a valid college e-mail address. Microsoft plans similar offers in Canada, Australia, Korea, Mexico, France, and Germany, though the prices will vary somewhat." more > http://www.osnews.com/story/22187/Students_Get_30_Pound_30_Dollar_Windows_7

While we often focus on the desktop offerings from Microsoft, the company of course also plays a role in countless other markets. The most prominent of those is probably the server market, where Windows 2000 Server and Windows Server 2003 are now facing a number of support changes - important stuff if you manage Windows servers. The biggest news? There will be no third service pack for Windows Server 2003. Let's start with 2000. Windows 2000 Server will reach the end of its extended support phase on July 13, 2010. This means that Windows 2000 Server will no longer be publicly supported, and you'll have to resort to 'Self-Help Online Support' for your support needs. Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2003 R2 (at a supported service pack level) will move from the Mainstream Support phase to the Extended Support phase on July 13 2010. In this phase, Microsoft will continue to provide security updates and paid support, customers will still have access to security updates and Self-Help Online Support options; however, non-security hotfixes developed during the Extended Support phase will be provided to customers who enroll in Extended Hotfix Support only. more > http://www.osnews.com/story/22179/No_3rd_Service_Pack_for_Windows_Server_2003

how can I setup ISS for SCCM 2007 in Windows Server 2008
anyweb replied to anyweb's question in IIS/apache/web server
which server did you run that on ? -
yeah the VERSION will remain the same after installing R2 but does it say R2 installed = Yes or not ? see here
-
you can't do this without installing SP2 RC for Sccm 2007, and your version doesnt match that secondly you need to install a hotfix or two for SQL 2008 to get it to work properly with SCCM ConfigMgr 2007 SP1 customers must apply hot fix KB955262 sql server 2008 sp1 might negate the need for that hotfix,
