  1. bump...anyone??
  2. hi, I've inherited an sccm site that has a site assignment issue and i can't seem to find the problem. config : schema extended (confirmed CM is publishing to SM container and creating MP and SLP containers), ip subnets added as boundaries (there are no subnets in AD Sites and Services), checked all the various logs, hman, ccm mplogs etc all are clean no errors. problem with new clients when I Discover site assignment it fails , unsuccessful. did all sorts of troubleshooting from reviewing locations services, client location logs etc, no definitive answer to resolve. but when I add the the default AD Site as a Boundary , then everything works (Site assignment successful)... and I can't find out where the problem is. we don't want to use ad sits as a bounbary so need to find out why site assignment isn't working when IP Subnets are defined as boundaries.... any ideas as to where else i can start looking??? thanks in advance
  3. in CM12, a single primary site server can manage up to 100 000 clients. you can keep SUP on the same server without any issues. Most patching done in a production environment is out of hours anyway so it's not going to affect day to day normal service
  4. hi, Sorry in advance, it's a topic that gets repeated... but Is it possible to run WSUS and SUP in the same environment, if so how? We are doing a migration of services, and while the migration is taking place there is a requirement to have both SUP and WSUS in the saem environrment patching respectively. I know the problem of GPOs overriding SCCM SUP client settings, but is there a way to have both? I've read suggestions of multiple wsus servers, GPOs linke dto different OUs etc, but in the end you still have the problem of ALL machines having an SCCM client on them, but not all been patched through SUP. Has anyone worked with a similar issue? Thanks
  5. Thanks, This is the route I'll also be going down
  6. As it it stands I don't know what will or will not be missing. These will be systems migrated from another environment, so the question is best way to cacth and patch as they migrate, and do this by having something in place , pre-emptively.
  7. Hi, Any recommendations on the best way to manage systems that may have updates missing from say beginning of the year, some from last year or the year before? As an example a new system comes online that is missing these updates, what the best way to ensure systems like these are automatically captured and patched? There is a lot of docs around monthly patching but not much on managing bulk missing patches, on systems that may be missing a lot of patches from months or years gone past. any pointers or links that you guys would recommend/ Thanks
  8. Hi, Has anyone setup a NAS device to use while storing UMST data? if you have how did you set it up? or can it it be done? cheers
  9. Hi We currently build collections based on AD User group, then advertise and target that collection, easy enough. I now need to add to that, and expand the query that it not only builds the collection on AD User group, but also Operating System and Processor archtitecture . EG AD group = GroupABC , WIndows XP, x64. I'm sure it's achievable with some sort of query \sub query. The 2 queries below are the ones that essentially should be joined or merged... hopefully someone can assist. select useg.usergroup_name0 from v_R_UserGroup useg where Useg.Usergroup_Name0 like 'xxxxxx%' select SYS.Name0, sys.user_Name0 from v_r_system sys join v_GS_PROCESSOR PRO on PRO.resourceID = SYS.ResourceID join v_GS_OPERATING_SYSTEM OP on OP.resourceID = SYS.resourceID where PRO.AddressWidth0 like '32%' AND OP.Caption0 like 'Microsoft Windows 7%'
