  1. Hi, No software or software updates are "sent" to these clients automatically, you should just ignore them when you deploy software and software updates. So, no there is no way of sending a "neutered" client. Regards, Jörgen
  2. Hi, Here is how do it: http://ccmexec.com/2011/04/installing-multiple-sccm-client-hotfixes/ I use a script to do it. regards, Jörgen
  3. Hi, The sccm client uses the System account to run commnads on the client computers so make sure you have added permissions to the share for Domain Computers otherwise you will get access denied. Regards, Jörgen
  4. Hi, Are the other site servers also primary site servers or secondary site servers? If they are secondary sites server this is expected as clients can only be members of Primary site servers. Secondary site servers are are used to control traffic flow and roles but clients only report back to Primary sites. regards, Jörgen
  5. Hi, If you are talking about Computer Variables they are not available in the views that SCCM uses when querying from collections so it is not possible, :-( Regards, Jörgen
  6. HI, Sorry, but you must remote control a computer and not a user, there is no way to modify that. Regards, Jörgen
  7. Hi, Have you removed the PXE role and reinstalled it? Here is a great guide on how to do that: http://blogs.technet.com/b/system_center_configuration_manager_operating_system_deployment_support_blog/archive/2011/10/14/troubleshooting-the-pxe-service-point-and-wds-in-configuration-manager-2007.aspx It's probably the way to go. Regards, Jörgen
  8. Hi, I use the same script a lot, are you sure you have delegeted the correct permissions? The user account must have Delete permissions as well. If you run the script manually with the same user accound does it work then? Here are the correct permissions documentet:http://blog.coretech.dk/mip/creating-a-joindomain-account-for-use-with-sccm-osd/ Regards, Jörgen
  9. Hi, Check-out the Appdeploy.com website for information on he topic: http://www.appdeploy.com/articles/commandline.asp Here is more information as well: http://unattended.sourceforge.net/installers.php Regards, Jörgen
  10. Hi, Simply trigger a "Discovery Data Collecton Cycle" and a Hardware inventory action on the client and it will update the object. Regards, Jörgen
  11. Hi, Check this out: http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-change-windows-7-logon-screen-easily-without-using-hacks-tools/ Regards, Jörgen
  12. Hi, Yes you can advertise the OSD Task Sequence and initiate it from a working SCCM client no problem, it will download the WinPe boot image locally and use that when it reboots. If a computer however have an OS that doesn't work I normally press F12 to initiate the pxe-boot or the end-user, or PC technican. Then you don't have to change the boot order. Regards, Jörgen
  13. Hi, BITS isn't actually used for traffic between a Primary Site and a secodanry site. I would start by implementing the followign hotfix which solves a lot of issues with ditributing packages: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978021 The traffic between the primayr site and the secondary site is handled by the Schedule for the sender to that site so make sure no limitations are in place there. That would be a good start.
  14. Hi, There is nothing special you have to do, you can just import the MDT created image in SCCM and then deploy it as any other image. Regards, Jörgen
  15. Hi, Here is a great guide ot troubleshooting PXE point issues: http://blogs.technet.com/b/system_center_configuration_manager_operating_system_deployment_support_blog/archive/2011/10/14/troubleshooting-the-pxe-service-point-and-wds-in-configuration-manager-2007.aspx there is also a great guide in that on how to reinstall WDS and PXE point. regards, Jörgen
  16. Hi, Here is a simple query you can use to determine which machine is a 32 or 64 bit Windows 7 and then you can use these collections to deploy the Lync client. http://ccmexec.com/2011/07/query-to-determine-32-or-64-bit-operating-system/ You could also configure a supported platform for both applications and then deploy them to the same collection, then the clients will only install the one with the correct supported platform. I think however option 1 with the two queries is the way to go. regards, Jörgen
  17. Hi, I would use DCM to query the machines and the use the builtin report to generate the raport, http://ccmexec.com/2010/03/using-dcm-in-configuration-manager-2007-to-report-if-service-is-running/ Regards, jörgen
  18. Hi, Check out this excel spreadsheet from Chris Nackers it can assist you in finding the ports you need to open. http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/cnackers/archive/2012/01/11/configuration-manager-port-information-and-spreadsheet.aspx Regards, Jörgen
  19. Hi, It is controlled by the Computer Client Agent polling interval which per default is 60 minutes. It will pull a new policy and update the maintenance window information using this polling interval. regards, Jörgen
  20. Hi, You are correct, lenovo uses the fileds in a little different way than the rest.. I have modified the builtin report here, to list the Lenovo serial number correctly: http://ccmexec.com/2010/04/lenovo-computers-and-serial-numbers-in-reports/ I haven't seen anything about retrieivng the model-name I normally use the modelnr and in reports for instance replace the model-nr with the model name to make it user friednly. Regards, Jörgen
  21. Hi, I normally do it using Gorup Policy preference instead of SCCM (for once ;-) ) Here is an example of a script to add network printers that you could use. http://www.computerperformance.co.uk/ezine/ezine16.htm Regards, Jörgen
  22. Hi, Identifying the inactive computers is not that easy, here is an example report for computers when they last reported hardware inventory, software inventory, last heartbeat. http://ccmexec.com/2011/05/sccm-report-clients-that-have-not-reported-recently-per-collection/ You should also have a look at the Client Status reporting which is included in R2 and R3. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc161956.aspx When it comes to inactive users I would do that in AD instead using scripts instead of SCCM. Regards, Jörgen
  23. 0 HI, You can do this in a numbr of ways, one would be to add the Computer to a collection with TS#2 advertised using a script as the last step in TS#1, then there is no risk that the TS#2 will be executed if not TS#1 is successful. You could also use conditions in TS#2 and make sure a file is present on the C drive for instance otherwise it will fail. Not as pretty as the first suggesteion but it will work. I normally do the first option and add it to a collection for TS#2 autimatically in the first TS. Regards, Jörgen
  24. Hi, I would start by checking the execmgr.log, policyagent.log and clientlocation.log files on the client to start troubleshooting the problem, Regards, Jörgen
  25. Hi, Are the computers applying the updates even if the icon doesn't show up? If so check to make sure you have no old group policies beeing applied that changes the behavoiur. Regards, Jörgen
