Yes "Individually, each secondary site supports up to 250 distribution points and each distribution point can support up to the same number of clients as supported by the hardware configuration of the secondary site server, up to a maximum of 4,000 clients." http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg682077.aspx

Preparing a PKI for Internet Based Client Deployment
Kingen replied to RS1's topic in Configuration Manager 2012
I think you only need a Management Point in the DMZ ? -
So you want to schedule a reboot of several computers in a collection? You can Schedule a shutdown and reboot's with right click tools, don't know if it's the best way but it's possible: http://myitforum.com/myitforumwp/2012/05/07/config-manager-2012-right-click-tools/

Why didn't i think of that! That's probably the best way to go if it's on existing clients, either way script or the Right Click tools: Download: http://myitforum.com...ht-click-tools/

Our network user guide for SCCM/Vanilla in our school
Kingen replied to nry's topic in Configuration Manager 2012
Nice guide, but do you setup pupils manually in the AD? I don't think IT should setup accounts, that's the School Administrators job. Setup Orchestrator with Servicemanager and the SMPortal so teachers/Administrators can set up account's using Sharepoint. This might be interesting : www.youtube.com/watch?v=EV9KtJIb_Ps -
How big is the Program? over 5GB? You could change the Maximum Chache Size by options in the installation properties. Take a look here: http://sccmfaq.wordpress.com/2012/06/18/sccm-2012-client-installation-properties/ And if this is just a lab you could do it manually like this: To change the SCCM Cache size: Go into Control Panel and choose Configuration Manager (32-bit). Under the Advanced tab, click the Configure Settings button. In the Temporary Program Download Folder section at the bottom, increase the Amount of disk space to use. Some software packages have been over 5 GB (5000 MB), so 10 GB (10,000 MB has worked for any current packages). Click OK to save changes, and try re-running the software package.

SCCM 2012 - Computer Autonaming Console Extensions
Kingen replied to rpieniaz's topic in Configuration Manager 2012
This is great, will save this for later. Do you have any screenshots from the TS GUI? What happens if you re-install a computer does it get the same name that it had before, or does it get a new name? //K -
You can use the RC guide's for a standalone RTM setup

Disk sizing for a new 2012 install
Kingen replied to Kingskawn's topic in Configuration Manager 2012
I have noticed a big difference betwen CM07 and CM12 in ram usage, my 07 site with 2,5K computers uses between 4-6GB ram, my CM12 LAB site have 10 computers and uses 9GB now with all site roles installed. I Think 16GB to start with for 5k users seems fair enough. -
If you are only testing, i Think you should create a new server domain-join it and install a new SCCM site. I think you could change the domain, but you would have to rediscover the AD/ip set up new boundaries, and extend the schema in the new domain's AD. But i think it sounds really bad and to much work to do, just start over and begin a new fresh installation, it's fun

Best practise for Patch deployments
Kingen replied to kabirhussein's topic in Configuration Manager 2012
One ADR for Win7 Needed = 1, auto install, but no auto reboot. One ADR for Server Needed = 1, auto install, and auto reboot at service windows 01.00 @ saturday night's. One ADR for Server Hyper-V HOSTS, needed = 1, auto install, and auto reboot at service windows 01.00 @ Friday nights. That's how i usually set it up, works great- 4 replies

SCCM 2012 full hierarchy Firewall ports
Kingen replied to ori_rino's topic in Configuration Manager 2012
Best practice when setting up a production SCCM is to always monitor the site servers in the firewall and see what's being blocked or not. It will spare you some time sometimes thinking something is wrong with your CM, when in fact it could be firewall rules/policys. I know there is going to be much data being replicated between your CAS and primary's, but that's all covered with the 4022 port that you have already mentioned. I don't think it differs to much between a standard standalone setup and a CAS setup. -
Unable to create MDT task sequence
Kingen replied to geckostech's topic in Configuration Manager 2012
That seems strange, WAIK and ADK should be able to be installed on the same server at the same time?
