  1. Hi guys, I'm hoping someone has come across this issue before. Root Issue: Unable to Activate TPM during TS using Lenovo provided scripts. Cause: BIOS versions from a certain point in time and earlier are unable to activate TPM using Script. Resolution: Update Lenovo BIOS to a later version (1.43 is current at the time of this post) My issue: Applying the lenovo BIOS update during WinPE im getting the "incorrect function" error when its attempting to run the setup.exe Now im guessing this is because winpe is limited to when type of files it can run. And .exe not beign one of them. MY TS step as follows: Run command:flash.bat Flash.bat contents: %~dp0WINUPTP.EXE -s TS package containing WINUPTP.EXE and other associated files. Using x64 bootimage CM2012 SP1 Hoping someone can help Thanks
  2. Hi all, i am currently in the middle of a pilot rollout from XP to 7x64. Today we have had 2 cases in a row where a users documents have not been restored correctly to users mydocs folder on the win7 machine. For every file it fails to restore..i get the same message: 2012-12-13 15:25:20, Status [0x000000] Processing File D:\Data\User\My Documents [ExcelFile.xlsx] 2012-12-13 15:25:20, Error [0x080000] Could not create object \\dfsshare\dfs\FolderReDir\User\Documents[ExcelFile.xlsx]. Shell application requested ignore Same error for another 160 files. All other restores up until now have completed successfully. What possible environment change could have occured that would affect this? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks EDIT: I know it says file "exists" but its not there obviously..otherwise it would be considered a successful migration
  3. Yes checking the CAS.log shows that its taking approx 8 mins per package to download from the DP. My task sequence contains approx 25 packages! So this is not time efficient. Im wondering if the checkboxes for remote dp's and internet access are the reasons. Theres something fishy in the CAS.log also...ive attached. In the CAS log you can see it pulls the packages down then starts pulling them again! Currently this log shows the download of the task sequence is up to about an hour. Could it be an internal network issue? EDIT: Just ran the same task sequence on a machine i had done a fresh install on. And the TS ran within 30 secs. Could possibnly be the client cache requires clearing as someone mentioned above? I gave up on the troublesome one above and just did a wipe and load. CAS.LOG
  4. Any other suggestions for this would be fantastic.. Others mostly suggest to run a chkdsk prior to the wipe However, this adds too much time to the build. In the end, the wipe is performed in offline mode, everything should be able to be accessed. Though it just cant delete it! The wipe error has become too intimitant to look at keeping... Looks like its SMP for now
  5. thanks NIall, posted reply in link you mentioned above. Still seems to be an issue.
  6. Thanks Niall, Unfortunately i still get the same error after putting the restart in there. I thought it could have been the specific folder in the root causing the issue. So i entered a manual delete of the folder prior to Wiping. Which had fixed the issue. Now im just getting the same error on random files/folders that it cant delete. I have used USMT 4 in a number of migrations...havnt come across this as yet. See attached. smsts log Wiping C:\ ApplyOperatingSystem 24/08/2012 2:23:55 PM 1228 (0x04CC) Set "C:\_SMSTaskSequence" to not be wiped ApplyOperatingSystem 24/08/2012 2:23:55 PM 1228 (0x04CC) Set "C:\_SMSTaskSequence\StateStore" to not be wiped ApplyOperatingSystem 24/08/2012 2:23:55 PM 1228 (0x04CC) Set "%_SMSTSClientCache%" to not be wiped ApplyOperatingSystem 24/08/2012 2:23:55 PM 1228 (0x04CC) Set "%_SMSTSNewClientCachePathToCleanup%" to not be wiped ApplyOperatingSystem 24/08/2012 2:23:55 PM 1228 (0x04CC) Calculating expected free space. 7. Guys, On a similar note. I am deploying W7 to W7 using hardlinks in offline mode. And im getting the "unable to delete directory" for a specific application directory that is installed to the root of C. Why would it not wipe this particualr folder even in offline mode? Driving me mad
  8. Voted! Best of Luck and well deserved
  9. On a similar note. How can you make an entire task sequence access the content directly? eg. Online Refresh scenario. I have ticked the "Copy content in package to a package share on DP" for all packages refered in the task sequence. So i now have the deployment option of "Access content directly from DP when needed by running TS" which i thought would fix the slow download issue. Its still taking at least 15-20 mins to pull everything from the new SMSPKGD$ folder before it begins the Task sequence. Any ideas???
  10. I have the same question... Is it possible to do an Offline - In-place upgrade using SMP? All i get are errors saying it cant find hte SMP.. Alternatively if i do it live on the machine...with 2012 you need to copy all packages refering to teh TS locally...essentially doubling the storage requirements. Any help would be great. Cheers
  11. Awesome response! Thanks guys.. I'd configured it as above....though after appy OS ts....it finishes the wipe around the state store...and i get the dreaded "the directory is not empty" error in the failed logs. Also...im lead to believe if you dont specify the standard xml files then nothing will be migrated?...so chosing the "standard" option check box will not actually capture anything? didnt make sense to me either. Thanks again! EDIT: Using standard migdocs and miguser files has captured the WinPE wallpaper lol. However, a reboot fixes this.
  12. HI Niall, That was fantastic, Im doing this in CM2012 now.How does it differ now? As you have the option now to use Offline mode in WinPE. Do you still require the xcopy's to the system drive etc? Do you chose both "use links" check box and the "offline Winpe" check box for USMT hard linking in CM2012? Cheers
  13. Hi Guys, Is there any reason why i should create a new auto deployment rule on the CAS rather than the primary? I have an existing definitions package and not sure if i should create the new auto deployment rule on the CAS or Primary. The Original rule was created on the CAS for XP machines. I want to create another for a new Windows 7 collection. thanks
  14. OK issue resolved. This may happen to others so would be good to know for future reference. So it looks like i was trying to import already existing drivers into a package. Which usually is ok. However. The existing drivers were still pointing to a package which i had previously deleted. So i was receiving SMS errors upon each import. Resolution. Searched the driver directory for existing drivers with that category. And deleted them from the pool. Import worked after that. Cheers
  15. HI All, FInished deploying approx 10 Dell notebook models. With great success. However now im onto some HP desktops. Have manually downloaded all Win7 applicable drivers to my models. Imported the drivers to a package ive created which took around 45 mins. Distribute and deploy etc. Now when going into the driver package and looking at members...the package is empty! Anyone seen this? Thanks
  16. UPDATE: Ive found the culprit driver by using the drvload command and a usb key. However, it seems the driver was already in the boot image. Its just not picking it up. Could the x64 boot image be the issue? Or the DP's just arnt updating.. My in-experience is getting to me now. EDIT: I changed the boot image to the x86. and injected ONLY the 1 NIC driver that i used in drvload earlier. Still just getting the reboots straight after it boots into Winpe. EDIT2: Adding a new boot image seemed to fix this issue. Now the driver packages wont apply
  17. Thanks anyweb, I was looking at that post earlier in the week. I'll give it a go Im only using the x64 boot image, not the x86. So i have only injected drivers into the x64 and its definately booting into the correct boot image.
  18. Hi Guys, Now ive read one of Nialls posts that suggest 9/10 times when this issue occurs its related to the NIC drivers in the boot image. However, i was positive i couldnt have put any more drivers in the boot image than i already have. It boots to the WinPE background and then restarts itself on the preparing hardware. Ipconfig is showing nothing. So i can only assume its a missing nic driver in my boot image. Anyone had troubles with this model in particular? Thanks
  19. Hi Peter, thanks for the reply, It might seem like a basic question. However as mentioned i am very new to SCCM and have no prior experience in earlier versions either. So thought as there are so many guides in here. Thought there may be a quick one for creating driver packages for different hardware models, and quick and easy ways to go about it. I have since had a play around in a lab, and have a decent method. But thought i would seek some advice from the pros 1st. Thanks
  20. Bumping guys, any recent guides with CM2012 in particular would be great.
  21. Hi All, Long time reader 1st time poster. I'll be doing a fair bit of work shortly with CM2012, mainly doing driver imports and creating packages for approx 14 hardware models. I have completed up to step 10 in the LAB guide from our main man anyweb. However i havnt come across a guide for importing drivers, creating packages and applying to task sequences etc. SCCM 2012 is my only experience with OSD, so i have no prior knowledge from previous versions. There is one sticked thread for creating driver packages, however that ends up referring to using Dell cab files Any help would be great. Cheers
