Changing Read Only Task Sequnce Variables
srinu9 replied to srinu9's topic in Configuration Manager 2007
Thanks Mikey, I have been googling for it almost 4 hours in last two days... My mistake, i didn't observed the tabs in 1E's website and I am just looking at the "Miscellaneous tools" section all the time and couldn't find the tool over there. Just now I observed that there is a "ConfigMgr Tools" tab and found tsenv2.exe under that section. Now downloaded and all set to go... Thanks a lot for the reply... Srinu... -
Hi, Any information on modifying a read only task sequnce varibales while running from Offline TS media. I would like to change the varibale "_SMSTSSiteCode" for mapping our clients to their respective sites. I have read in many articles that "tsenv2.exe" can achive this. Unfortunately, I couldn't find it any where on the web. it seems the "1E", the developer of this tool is not providing it anymore. If some one have this tool, can you passs it on to me along with the supporting files. Is there any other way to change the read only TS varibales??? Is there any other way to chnage the site of the client while the step "Setup Windows and ConfigMgr" is being performed?? Thanks for any help in advance... Srinu...

Got it working on the first go..... :-) But I have problems with the resolution and icon Overlapping. Hope I can solve them. Between, is there any option to get rid of those sccm default pop-up windows asking to click "Next" at the start of the task sequence and the window showing the task sequnece name. And is it possible to customize the progress bar too?? I want to add a progress bar with our custom back ground. Ran into a new problem now.... I have got a brand new sandisk Extreme USB 3.0 thumb drive and created a Stand alone TS media on that. On a 2.0 USB port it is throwing an error saying "Unable to read task sequuence configuration disk"... I havn't tried it on a 3.0 port yet... any ideas?? Thnaks.. Srinu...

Almost there... Modified the Windows-noob Front end as per my requirement. Since I am not very familiar with scripting, it took a while for me to understand and modify the hta. Not yet included in the task sequence. Will do it tomorrow and post the results... Thanks for the help Niall....

HI Niall... Thanks for the reply.... I will give a try on the HTA today. Pretty new to that, will try to figure it out. Thanks.. Srinu

Hi.. We are migrating to Windows 7 using the Stand alone USB Task Sequence media created by SCCM. Now i would like to include Symantec Ghost also into the same USB thumb drive for some disk cloning and backup purposes. I want to have an option to start either Ghost or Task Sequence. For this, I can write a script which can promt to select which opttion to chosse.. But the problem is, i could not stop the task sequence to execute automatically after booting from the USB. Any suggestions on stopping the TS to execute atomatically??

Disk to Disk migration using USMT
srinu9 replied to srinu9's question in Deploying Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 7 and more...
Thanks for the reply Peter. Yeah.. I too feel that's a tricky one. One thing which is currently running in my mind is, is it possible to run loadstate restore from from raw untouched files without running scanstate to create a store. If the answer is Yes, I can still bang my head around to get my work done. If No, I can give up on USMT for getting our strategy to work. Any ideas?? -
Hi.. Can USMT migrate the data to a Windows 7 PC from a Windows XP Hard disk connected as secondary hard disk to Windows 7?? Our strategy for Windows migration is to replace the Hard disk of XP PC's with a Pre-Imaged Win7 Hard disk and we are planning to use USMT for migrating the data. in this case, we are trying to find out if USMT can directly migrate the data from the XP hard disk connected as secondary hard disk to the Win7 machines. I feel that might be possible but couldn't find a working method. Can some one get me in the right direction if what i am trying to achive is possible?? Thanks in advance...
