I'm planning to install a secondary site server in my SCCM 2012 SP1 hierarchy and wanted to know if I should install the SQL Express(which installs by default) or install a new instance of SQL server 2012 enterprise? My primary site server is currently running remotely on SQL Server 2012 SP1. Thanks, Paul

I'm tryin to setup the report services point site system role on my SCCM 2012 SP1 primary site. However when I get the configuring the settings the "Reporting Services server instance" is blank, and I'm not able enter anything inside that box. I verified my reporting services configuration manager that report server is setup properly. I see other threads posting similar issues but many of them has to do with SQL 2008. Current SCCM 2012 SP1 configuration is below.... Primary Site Server: SCCM 2012 SP1 SQL Server(separate remote server) SQL Server 2012 CU2 ***SMSAdmin Account has local admin rights on the sql server*** Thanks Paul

Stop SCCM 2012 from publishing to Active Directory
pnyce24 replied to pnyce24's topic in Configuration Manager 2012
Yeah, I understood what he was saying but I was just asking because for some reason after unchecking my domain within my publshing properties, I didn't my 2012 primary site server within system managerment anymore. I still see all my 2007 site servers but not my 2012 site server.... -
Stop SCCM 2012 from publishing to Active Directory
pnyce24 replied to pnyce24's topic in Configuration Manager 2012
Thank Niall, I ended up just unchecking the active domain for the primary site server settings. However, if I do that will that remove the computer account of CM site server from the system managment container? I'm asking because when I went to the system Management container in AD my computer account of the SCCM 2012 primary site server was no longer there.... Strange I know. -
I'm in the process of configuring boundary groups for site assignment, but I want to ensure that each boundary in my boundary group is not a member of another boundary group with a different site assignment. I currently have a SCCM 2007 source hierarchy in our environment, which have a separate boundary for each Active Directory site within our local forest. My question is when I create my boundaries and boundary groups in SCCM 2012 SP1, how to I prevent overlapping my boundaries in my SCCM 2007 enviroment. I read the technet documentation that overlapping boundaries are not supported for site assignment. However, I read overlapping boundaries are supported for content location. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh427326.aspx#BKMK_CreateBoundary Thanks in advance Paul

Configuring Discovery and Boundaries in SCCM 2012
pnyce24 replied to pnyce24's topic in Configuration Manager 2012
Peter, You are referring to the Active Directory Forest Discovery properties? "Automatically create AD site boundaries when they are discovered" "Automatically create IP addressess range boundaries for IP subnets when they are discovered" Thanks, P -
SCCM 2012 SP1 Prerequisite Downloads
pnyce24 replied to pnyce24's topic in Configuration Manager 2012
Iroqouiz, Thanks for replying, issue has been resolved. Problem was due to a proxy issue...For some reason my proxy would let it go to that specific url to pull down the dotnetfx40_Client_x86_x64 fie. Workaround was I just manually added the the two files into the prerequisite folder and it was able to complete successfully SCCM 2012 SP1. P -
I get an error every time I try to download the prerequesites downloads for SCCM 2012 SP1. It's downloads 51 out of 56 downloads then errors out when trying to download "dotnetfx40_Client_x86_x64" . Only happens in SCCM 2012 SP1. Thanks, Paul

SCCM 2012 or SCCM 2012 SP1 on initail install?
pnyce24 replied to pnyce24's topic in Configuration Manager 2012
We are using WINPE 3.1(64 bit), and the hardware in some of our remote sites are definitely at least 3 years old. So I feel like i'm in a catch 22 because SP1 sets me up for the future(ie-server 2012), but installing it will/may cause some issues in our current infrastructure....- 5 replies

I'm in the process with installing SCCM 2012 and wanted to know should I go and install SCCM 2012 SP1 (instead of SCCM 2012 "no service pack) considering the current SP1 issues I've been reading. Grant it, most of the issues I see is when admins or engineers are upgrading from SCCM 2012 no service pack to SCCM 2012 SP1, and not a fresh install. What do you all think? Thanks, P

A few weeks ago our WSUS server stopped pullin updates from Microsoft Updates site for no apparent reason. I checked and there were no configuration changes done on our WSUS server, or the network. The only error I can get is the error you see below....I checked everything at nothing seems to work.Strange thing is when I copy the url and paste it in IE, I'm able to get to the WSUS download page from that server. WebException: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. ---> System.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationException: The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure. Thanks, P WebException: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. ---> System.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationException: The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure.

I have SCCM 2012 installed in my test environment. However I also installed SCCM 2007 in my test environment (also running in prodcution environment) to fully test migration tools. What I would lkie to know are there any tools, powershell scripts, etc out there to copy the SCCM 2007 data in my production network to my test enviroment. ? Thanks, Paul

Hey All, I just installed SCCM 2012 in my test environment, with a remote sql 2012 server. However, as I read more documentation on 2012, experts or so call experts say I should install SQL server 2012 locally on the same primary site server. The main reason they say is for permissions simplicity. However, when I install 2012 in production should I install SQL 2012 server local or on remote server. Current Site Hierarchy Primary Site 3 Secondary Sites at remote locations Total Clients: 500-1000 at each site. Thanks, Paul

It worked, I seems I had to give myself local admin rights to the dc also. Thanks again, Paul

I'm trying to extend the active schema for config 2012 and I continue to get an permissions error = 5 when trying to run command line utility extadsch.exe, which is included in the setup binaries. I checked and my admin account and it is part of the Schema admin group. Also just be sure, I'm suppose to install extadsch from the main DC, and not the SCCM server, correct? Thanks, Paul

Thanks Niall I think that's the best route to take. Also can you point me to the most updated CM07 guide on this site? Paul

Good Afternoon, I have currently have SCCM 2012(thanks to your SCCM guides) setup in my test environment. However, on my production environment we currently have SCCM 2007 in production and planning on moving/migrating over to SCCM 2012 the next few months. Now, is it necessary to create a SCCM 2007 environment in my test environment to successfully test the migration? Which would mean I would have to scrap my current SCCM 2012 and start all over again.... Or should I just keep on current SCCM 2012 in test and work from there, since you can only stand up SCCM 2012 in parallel (no upgrade function) with SCCM 2007. Also, I was thinking of not using any of the migration tools. Thanks, Paul

I'm currently migrating SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012 and was looking to see if anyone has or can point me somewhere to find a example sccm 2012 project template. I found for SCCM 2007 but could not find one for 2012. Thanks in advance, Paul

Both my Primary server and SQL server will be running on VMWare VM's. However, as for your DP's, are you hosting that data on a separate VM? Thanks Paul
