Long time no post, but The error seemed to go away, but now it's reared its ugly head again. The problem is random and will occur on random packages. It will occur on a computer, then if you restart the OSD, it may work the next time around. There is no rhyme or reason to it that I can detect. I'm trying to detect if external factors (backups, client hardware issues, etc) may be causing the issue. Hopefully I'll find something solid. Edenost I don't believe the Experts Exchange post is the sole reason, as the packages it fails on for me range from simple one dependent packages to more complex ones. And again, these will work on most of the systems. Note: I'm running 5.0.7958.1000

SCM 2012 SP1 no longer lets me install packages via OSD
c4pp3r replied to c4pp3r's topic in Configuration Manager 2012
Think I found the cause. My restart step had restart to boot image instead of Operating system. Testing now.. -
Hi guys I just upgraded from 2012 to 2012 SP 1. The first issue I had was that my current OSD tasks were rebooting after the "Setup Windows and Configuration Manager" step, ignoring all the app packages after that. SCM didn't even detect it as a failed install, nothing was noted. I decided to create a new OSD task and just replicated the steps from my old one (I left the new "Install Operating System" steps as is). Voila. It works, the OSD now gets past the "Setup Windows and Configuration Manager" step, BUT now I get the dreaded 00000032 error when it tries to install Forefront or any other app for that matter. I know that the error usually indicates if you are trying to install a Windows app during the WinPE part, but my OSD is exactly the same as my old one (which worked fine before SP1), the apps are all set to install AFTER the SCM client step, which is, as far as I know, at the Windows stage. I even put a restart step after the "Setup Windows and Configuration Manager" step to see if that helped, but it didn't. This step worked fine prior the upgrade to SP 1. Attached is my smsts log. Does SP 1 handle things differently now or something? smsts.log

Hi guys We use SCM 2012 to deploy our syspreped (and generalized) WIM images to our lab machines. I have 3 software products (Sony Acid Music Studio 8, Sony DVD Architect 5 and Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum HD) which are installed on the base image and registered/activated while the base system is in Audit mode. NOTE: we use ImageX to capture the WIM image, we do not use SCM to capture it, only to deploy via a a Task Sequence OSD. Once I deploy the image via an OSD all 3 products lose the registration information. I have to physically uninstall each program, then re-install and re-activate the software on each system. At 1200+ systems, there's no way in hell I want to do that The thing is, it worked perfectly fine in Ghost, so there must be something that ImageX does to the image that makes the programs lose the info. I'm guessing it has something to do with volume IDs and the like, but I don't know. I'm at my wits end here. I tried everything, including contacting Sony support, who just said to copy the reg files from a working system over to the stuffed one, but that didn't work either. Does anyone have suggestions? Does an SCM capture task do it differently than a straight ImageX command from within WinPE? Thanks!

Hi guys I'm at the end of my wits here. For some reason I just cannot install any Software Packages, regardless of type (straight from exe, cmd file, etc), and regardless of program. I have tried recreating the packages from scratch, recreating my OSD task sequence from scratch, redistributing my Windows image, recreating it even, but nothing fixes my issue. In the packages themselves, I have ticked the "Allow this program to be installed from the Install Package task sequence without being deployed". I even tried deploying the package to the "All Systems" group in case the prior setting was being ignore, but it still doesn't work. I even deployed it at the container my test system is in, and it still doesn't work. All packages are set to run whether or not a user is logged on. The packages can deploy successfully when pushed out to running clients, it's only in an OSD task sequence that they fail. OSD fails to half of computers error 0x80072ee2 and others
c4pp3r replied to c4pp3r's topic in Configuration Manager 2012
Sorry for the lack of reply. anyweb: Yep, the drivers are all right. Rocket: Most of these MININT named PCs will rename and join the Domain just fine and take over their original AD account. Only a tiny number will give me a duplicate name error so I then have to delete the computer from AD and then rename the MINIT one and re-join. NOTE: I haven't had a chance to do my test yet, planninto at the start of Nov (got a few straight days with no users!) -
Warning in SMS_CLIENT_CONFIG_MANAGER
c4pp3r replied to Kevin79's topic in Configuration Manager 2012
Hiya I got the same issue on a Secondary site and found this > http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmanagerdeployment/thread/9b25f8fb-b10b-4bb3-9480-36e70ea3c2a2 Basically it looks like the R2 native client is causing the issues. You will need to uninstall that and install the NON-R2 SQL 2008 native client, BUT this then causes the server to start wanting SQL Server 2008 updates, which might not be a good thing. One of the guys in the linked posts ended up removing the server as a secondary site and re-added it as a distribution point only... I might do that too. -

Do you mean a 3rd time via OSD? I've been pressed for time so I haven't had a chance to image them a 3rd time to check that, but will do this week and post back. -

OneOne: Boundaries are fine from what I can see Also, my collections a split into rooms, so the PCs I image are always on the same subnet. if it were boundaries the whole room would fail I presume? Anyweb: Network Access account is fine (currently set to Domain Admin, but I have tried others too). Rocket: That's right. Half fail, half succeed. I doubt it's H/W related because if I run the task again on the the failed systems, the OSD completes successfully with the exact same settings, Network account and boundaries as when they failed. the ONLY difference is that on the second turn I initiate the OSD via PXE or a USB boot disk, whereas the initial OSD is initiated from within Windows and the SCCM client. -

They should have full access to the file. If all systems failed then I'd understand, but the fact that only half of them fail, and then the second time round they find the file, leads me to believe it is another issue, -
Hi guys I'm pulling my hair out here. Every time I do a Windows 7 OSD to a lab of computers (NOTE: systems are already running with Windows, so OSD deployed via System Centre client as a forced sequence), about half will fail. Things to mention: Now, I have never been at a computer as the sequence as failed, so whenever I check a failed system it's always requires me to boot it up with a windows USB boot disk (ie: UBCD). When I do this, the failed PC's C drive only has the "SMSTSLog" folder on it, nothing else. I use a domain account for the Network Access account. I've even tried with the Domain Admin account and the same issue occurs. This occurs on both of my OSD sequences which use a different wim file (different PC systems) If I reboot the system with a SCCM boot disk, or via PXE, and let the task sequence start again (I have "rerun if failed" enabled) the OSD works perfectly, well, the PC loses its AD name and I have to rename it, but that's no biggie. Running the "History of a task sequence" report, I get the following PersistContents ), HRESULT=80070002 (e:\nts_sccm_release\sms\client\osdeployment\applyos\installimage.cpp,1368) resolvePkgSource(), HRESULT=80070002 (e:\nts_sccm_release\sms\client\osdeployment\applyos\installimage.cpp,1411) Apply(), HRESULT=80070002 (e:\nts_sccm_release\sms\client\osdeployment\applyos\installimage.cpp,1614) installer.install(), HRESULT=80070002 (e:\nts_sccm_release\sms\client\osdeployment\applyos\installimage.cpp,1689) Entering ReleaseSource() for C:\_SMSTaskSequence\Packages\BUN0001A The user tries to release a source directory C:\_SMSTaskSequence\Packages\BUN0001A that is either already released or we have not connected to it InstallImage( g_InstallPackageID, g_ImageIndex,targetVolume, ImageType_OS, g_ConfigPackageID,g_ConfigFileName, bOEMMedia ), HRESULT=80070002 (e:\nts_sccm_release\sms\client\osdeployment\applyos\applyos.cpp,470) Installation of image 1 in package BUN0001A failed to complete..
