    Report updates?

Ok, i switched that to 1 hour - but would the hardware inventory client update the software add/remove programs stuff?

    Report updates?

I am currently using this canned report: Report Name: Computers with specific software registered in Add Remove Programs Category: Software - Companies and Products I'm using it to track the installs of our Netbackup client, and it works, kinda. My problem is that im currently rolling out this client to all the servers that don't have it, and it seems to take 15+ hours before this report updates with the new installs. I can't seem to figure out where I need to update the poll/cycle time so that these refresh faster and will show up as registered in add/remove programs. I assumed that it was the software policy but i increased that to update every 2 hours but it still takes forever for my new installs to show up in this report. Anyone know what i might have missed?
  3. I just noticed that none of my x64 clients on my SCCM box have any of the tools in the control panel, even though everything is installed/assigned correctly on them. Is this normal behavior for x64 clients? If so, how do you initiate policy/machine cycles, etc. Thanks!
  4. Good call, it looks like the 2 failures failed for other reasons that i'll need to troubleshoot at a later date. My other question was, how do i set it so once the install completes, the computer drops itself out of the collection?
  5. Ok, i finally got this to work after tinkering for awhile. Sort of. I have 2 machines in my test collection, the first one went through beautifully. Deployed the package, everything was great. The second one errors out when it tries to execute the .cmd (i believe). It successfully pushes the package to \ccm\cache but in the execmgr log on the client i get this error: Successfully prepared command line "C:\WINDOWS\system32\CCM\Cache\IBC0001B.1.System\silentclient.cmd" execmgr 1/21/2009 1:09:02 PM 3792 (0x0ED0) Raised Program Started Event for Ad:IBC2000D, Package:IBC0001B, Program: NBU 6.5 Silent Install execmgr 1/21/2009 1:09:02 PM 3792 (0x0ED0) Execution Manager timer has been fired. execmgr 1/21/2009 1:09:03 PM 3776 (0x0EC0) Program exit code 1603 execmgr 1/21/2009 1:11:14 PM 3776 (0x0EC0) Looking for MIF file to get program status execmgr 1/21/2009 1:11:14 PM 3776 (0x0EC0) Script for Package:IBC0001B, Program: NBU 6.5 Silent Install failed with exit code 1603 execmgr 1/21/2009 1:11:14 PM 3776 (0x0EC0) Raised Program Error Mom Event for Ad:IBC2000D, Package:IBC0001B, Program: NBU 6.5 Silent Install execmgr 1/21/2009 1:11:14 PM 3776 (0x0EC0) Execution is complete for program NBU 6.5 Silent Install. The exit code is 1603, the execution status is FailureNonRetry execmgr 1/21/2009 1:11:14 PM 3776 (0x0EC0) There isn't much difference between the two machines. Nothing at least that stands out as to why this would execute fine on one box and not the other. Any thoughts?
  6. No dice so far. I don't really see any progress anywhere on client or on the sccm server. I have no errors or successes in any of the system status logs. From the client i've initiated the cycles but still nothing. Nothing shows in the 'run advertised programs' window on the client either, i'm sort of at a loss at this point. Maybe I'm missing something, is there something specific i can check? Can i provide screenshots that will help? Anything you can suggest would be appreciated. Thanks!
  7. I currently have a collection (with 1 computer in it) that im using for testing, i right clicked on the collection and distrubuted software, chose the package and created a new advertisement through that wizard. I will update you in about 30 minutes if it deployed.
  8. Hey. I followed your guide for deploying software packages (it was awesome) My question was, instead of advertising it, so systems are always trying to install it automatically, can i get to a point where i have a program/package created and then just be able to right click on a bunch of clients and install that package immediately? I've created my program/package following the guide, and when i right click on a client and try to distribute software to the device nothing really happens. Sub question -- Can programs be .cmd files? or do they have to be .exe Thanks!
  9. Well... I was really looking for some suggestions as what other people use, i'm well aware of google..
  10. Hello! I'm a bit new to packaging in general, and while my SCCM 2007 server is setup correctly to deploy packages I had a couple questions about CREATING the package that SCCM will distribute. A good example of what i'm trying to deploy is a netbackup client to our fleet of servers. This client installation is not straight forward, in that I have to change the intsallation path from the default, as well as do some things such as plug in our master backup server name, port, etc I understsand that symantec provides a silent install with switches to do this sort of thing, but what I don't understand is the best way to get this into a package that i can distribute via SCCM, so in essence I guess this is more of a packaging question than it is an SCCM question. What is the recommended/easiest tool to package something that has a lot of customizations in the install? If you need more information, please ask, and thanks in advance for any/all assistance. -Matt package noob :\
