Another question, but this time about licensing... I want to download the ConfigMgr 1511 but I can only do it from MSDN, Microsoft Evaluation Center and Volume Licensing Service Center. If you download and install ConfigMgr over my current lab (which is R2 with SP1 (CU2)), will this product return to "evaluation" or can I keep my key and use it with this version?

I had a few issues last year while testing a new image on my lab. The deployment was always installing the OS on the drive E or D and adding the OSDPreserveDriveLetter to false actually did only help once. I captured and sysprep the image with OSDPreserveDriveLetter and then the image was always good, no issues. In the task sequence where I deploy this new image I didn't add the OSDPreserveDriveLetter!

Newly created imaging boot media not working
ZeZe replied to krdell's topic in Configuration Manager 2012
Be aware... I once used a software that create automatically "everything" needed to boot from a USB with the boot image generated by the ConfigMgr and goes wrong. Search Microsoft technet how to create the boot disk from USB or as shown Dinci5... -
AHHhh!! Thanks, the all mighty Admin!

Actually I was reading one post - about how to build a task sequence that upgrades from win7/8 to Win10... Would be this an example that will not work? http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrteam/archive/2014/10/29/how-to-upgrade-to-win-10-using-the-task-sequence-in-sc-2012-r2-configmgr.aspx

Apparently Microsoft suggests that we don't install 1511 if we're using ADK 10 with boot images 10.1.10586.0... http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrteam/archive/2015/11/20/issue-with-the-windows-adk-for-windows-10-version-1511.aspx By installing the first version I'll avoid issues, but... does anyone has a workaround to the issue?

Or that... haha

Firstcom, My honest answer... SCCM is not a standard product (like Exchange, or SQL or as HyperV). It's a product that helps you to automate your IT processes and deliver dynamic solutions based on your needs. This also means that there aren't perfect nor ideal solutions for each thing that we configured in the SCCM. My way can be different from others, but it serves my propose, but might not work for you or others. That's the thing about this product - everything can be wrong and right - because it's about outcome that you want to achieve. Example: you might use one single WIM to deliver your images or you might use 10 based on vary different aspects. It all depends! I hope you can find more solutions with for your Java or you can simply use applications and supersede older versions (if you have a MSI).

Well... I guess the user SYSTEM account doesn't have permissions to browse your server. That's why you should use an account that has the proper permissions to copy file into that network location...
-
I'm not using MDT... ConfigMgr 2012 R2 and with SP2...
-
Check the parameters of the deployment if you are using the Always rerun, make sure you didn't made a recurrence?
-
Which account is he using to login into the servers?... what I mean was.. aren't the applications run by the SYSTEM account? so... Can the SYSTEM account copy content to your server? hmm...

I just use the build and capture task sequence and I don't have any problems. I have used with Windows 10 and it works like a charm. I even change the original task and add more steps to install additional software but that's it. When I'm deploying a workstation, based on the model it apply's the driver (using categories). If the drivers are more "specific" then I create the package that is also ran during the deployment. But I would recommend more information about the erros (maybe logs) will help us to help you guys!

I have installed.. no issues. Be carful when deploying things to the collection Desktops and Servers because SCM server will be there! I've install it on lab environments... Cheers!

Yes, this script was made only for x64, but you can use for x86 as well... Just change the location where the uninstall strings are for x86. Regarding other products that might used similar name (like "java") you can always add a second name that probably won't be found in other products. To test the script without executing the removal, just output the installations:

SCCM 2012 R2 Upgrade to SP1 PreReq Error
ZeZe replied to Config_Mgr_noob's topic in Configuration Manager 2012
Good to know! -
I'm using this "AS" a removal: filename removal.cmd: filename uninstall.ps1 Like I said - Any installed Java will be removed. Use this on package or as an application removal script. Let me know if it works for you as it works for me!

SCCM 2012 R2 Upgrade to SP1 PreReq Error
ZeZe replied to Config_Mgr_noob's topic in Configuration Manager 2012
If the permissions are not there, the wizard will always tell you that something is missing (warning as you already noticed). Make sure also that Active directory is replicated... Regarding the log, it doesn't tell me much but in general looks like a connection problem? Could be related with the firewall policies? If you have a firewall turned on, make sure the SQL ports are "allowed". -
SCCM 2012 R2 Upgrade to SP1 PreReq Error
ZeZe replied to Config_Mgr_noob's topic in Configuration Manager 2012
Regarding the Active Directory you really should take care of this one. AD prerequisites: Very important: Just follow the link and run the steps by steps: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg712264.aspx#BKMK_PrepAD Regarding the SQL warnings: Very important: I would adjust the memory instance allocation to 8192 Mb just to start. Limit to whatever value you think it's needed. Leave at least 2 or 3 Gb of memory free for the operating system. Wise: regarding the SQL authentication you could disable the mix mode authentication or not... I don't know if you have others applications that are using other authentication method. -
Hey Jaybone, Thanks for the update! I read somewhere that this MSI accepts Oracle switches (not the tradicional ones). True? Like /quiet is different? And again, thanks!
-
Where do you get the MSI from? From the Oracle or some other source?

I have a script that I created (using someones code) to remove ANY other Java version installed... it's powershell, but it's called via CMD script... interested?!
