Client update to 4.00.6487.2188?
Kingskawn posted a question in Deploy software, applications and drivers
Through OSD I'm installing the client with the 'PATCH=' option for hotfix; KB977384, kb978754, KB2263826 and KB2509007. How can I deploy those 4 to all my 'old' clients? Just deploy and reinstall the whole SCCM client? -
Maybe you can look into R3 with the "POWERVWR.exe" which gives you the working time status of a machine...
-
My boss asked me to create a monthly report on how many OSD have been done and if possible send to his mailbox. Is this possible? What other usefull info can be added into this report and how to begin with this?
-
Hi anyweb, I also have to deploy kb977384 & kb978754. Do I have to deploy all 3 in one shot (with TS) kb2509007, kb977384, kb978754 through SCCM client install (PATCH), through deployment or trough both? I think I need to do both. One to install on existing SCCM clients (classic app deployment) and the other one with PATCH options for newly installed machines. Am I right?

How does the package transfer works?
Kingskawn posted a question in Deploy software, applications and drivers
We have a line of 300mbit and yesterday I updated 13 secondary points through WAN with each time 4gb of (sup) updates and it seemed that the line was overloaded. I told that it never happened before but to be certain I'm gonna ask it. When you deploy or update an existing package it gets chopped and send, no? It's not a real 'drag and drop' of the file? -
Impossible to reactivate update within SCUP2012
Kingskawn replied to Kingskawn's question in Software Update Point
Ok, I found the solution to my problem. The deployment package was renamed lately and therefor the sccm log was saying "Invalid certificate signature". Isn't clear but ok. I just deleted that package and recreated a brand new. All is working now. -
Impossible to reactivate update within SCUP2012
Kingskawn replied to Kingskawn's question in Software Update Point
Ok, I found a workaround. I just duplicated the expired updates and published them back again. Now in SUP on SCCM when I need to download the updates for my update list it tells me 'Invalid certificate signature' at the end -

How can I install Dell DFEP?
Kingskawn posted a question in Deploy software, applications and drivers
I'm facing a bizarre problem. The first application that won't install and I don't see how to resolve it I have Dell DFEP (LINK) APP_WIN_R312094.EXE which I'm trying to install. I tested 2 methods, a simple batchfile and a direct command inside the program. Batchfile Program name Install -> cmd /c install.cmd @echo off taskkill /t /f /im DCPSysMgr.exe > NUL 2>&1 taskkill /t /f /im DCPSysMgrSvc.exe > NUL 2>&1 REM Remove Dell Feature Enhancement Pack and all its features start /wait APP_WIN_R312094.exe /passthrough /qn REMOVE=ALL taskkill /t /f /im DCPSysMgr.exe > NUL 2>&1 taskkill /t /f /im DCPSysMgrSvc.exe > NUL 2>&1 REM Install Dell Feature Enhancement Pack with all features using the Silent install start /wait APP_WIN_R312094.exe /passthrough RUNTIME_LANGID=1033 /qn /l*v "C:\Windows\temp\dfep.log" ADDLOCAL=ALL REMOVE=TOUCH I first uninstall Direct command-line Program name Install2 -> APP_WIN_R312094.EXE /s Logs If I go and look in the logs: Install1 The program for advertisement "AMR209F0" failed ("AMR002B7" - "install"). A failure exit code of 1603 was returned. User context: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Possible cause: Systems Management Server (SMS) determines status for each program it executes. If SMS cannot find or correlate any installation status Management Information Format (MIF) files for the program, it uses the program's exit code to determine status. An exit code of 1603 is considered a failure. Solution: For more information on the exit code, refer to the documentation for the program you are distributing. Install2 The program for advertisement "AMR209F0" failed ("AMR002B7" - "install2"). A failure exit code of 1 was returned. Anyweb, great tutorial as always! One thing I didn't see in the tuto's was your hyper-v config of all your lab machines (diskspace, ram, cpu network cards,...). I'm new to hyper-v but not sccm and I forced myself to try the 100% MS way without vmware vsphere. Thanks for your help -
Deploying win7 was easy and took like 1h but now I do the same task sequences and it takes like 3hours. Can I check what is taking so long? It's a secondary server over WAN with his own WDS and PXE service in his domain.

Cannot install software as local admin
Kingskawn replied to Kingskawn's question in Deploy software, applications and drivers
wmmayms, tried that already and didn't help. For this localhost\account, the localhost must be a variable to give the name of the computer. Something like "%_SMSTSMachineName%\Account" Another thing I tried and didn't work: STEP A Create a "Set Task Sequence Variable" and put it before the "Setup windows and ConfigMgr" Task Sequence Variable: LocalAdmin Value: %_SMSTSMachineName%\Administrator STEP B Create a "Run Command Line" Tick option "Run this step as the following account" with %LocalAdmin% and the password of the local administrator What else is there? -

SCCM console working slowly
Kingskawn replied to Kingskawn's question in Troubleshooting, Tools, Hints and Tips
Do you have any tool that can mesure up the throughput between 2 servers or a log? (I know wireshark) -
I got the sccm console installed on my computer. A separated sql server and remote wsus server connected to my SCCM infrastructure. On the console, everything is so slowly so I'm asking if there's some modification or reboot in order to speed it up a bit. Is there a maintenance to do on some servers to lose some heavy charges maybe?

Could you post your solution please? I have the same problem for 1 device

In the past we made our images on VMs and with imagex. I created a Winxp with SP2 without updates and additional ms little apps. Now we are making the images with the sccm build, manually adding scripts, and then capturing the image with sccm by advertisement. It's Winxp with SP3, updates and little ms apps. The problem is that I deployed that newest images and everything works untill the first reboot, it stops with a BSOD and error STOP 0x0000007 which indicates a AHCI (sata controller driver) problem. The weird thing is that it doesn't need a sata controller. It's the newest Dell Optiplex 390. These are the two controller in XP: VEN_8086&DEV_1C00 & VEN_8086&DEV_1C08 IntelĀ® 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family 4 port Serial ATA Storage Controller My old xp with SP2 does work on the same machine. The newest xp with SP3 doesn't work. I looked over the properties of the 2 wim images: XP with SP2: HAL Type: acpiapic_mp XP with SP3: HAL Type: ACPI Uniprocessor PC Could there be my problem? In the HAL type?

After being moved over Windows 7 I need to make a new XP 'gold' image but I encounter some difficulties. I based everything on the build&capture. I install a list of software during build: Install .net 1.1 SP1 Install .net 3.5 SP1 Restart Computer Install Win Management Framework Core WindowsInstall 4.5 Install Directx 9c Restart Computer Install Visual++ 2005+ Install Visual++ Redist 2005 SP1 Install Visual++ Redist 2008 SP1 Install Visual++ Redist 2010 Install Silverlight Install MSXML Install IE7 Restart Computer Install XMLParser 6 Install Windows Update Agent Restart Computer After that I install all ms updates and launch a script that creates some folders, deletes some too and add trace32 and robocopy to system32 The capture sequence is another TS because I change some parameters at logon of Administrator, then I copy the administrator profile to the default user to have quicklaunch and other things right. Then I launch the capture and when I use this captured image it always reboots after Os has been copied.

We are looking a way to lock our computers of the classrooms to set back everything on a reboot. Is this posssible? I heard of 'guest mode' This must be doable on Win7 x86 Enterprise. I know there was something similar on XP named SteadyState but now it's Guest Mode it seems. I need to deploy something to lock the computer installing applications and copy files and folders. We want to try the tool inside Windows and don't want to buy Deepfreeze as a replacement plan. Is this possible?
