Hmm, so I've been looking into this. Apparently if I remove the 'OSDPreserveDriveLetter = false' item, Windows installs to D: drive...BUT SCCM Client works. As soon as I set PreserveDriveLetter to false, it installs to C: (which is obviously what we want), but the SMS_Agent service is disabled and the SCCM Client doesn't work at all.

Hey Guys, I've created a Task Sequence which does a clean install of Windows 7. This is design so people can PXE boot a brand new machine/VM, and it will install the Windows 7 image onto it. I've had it working earlier today and it was fine, but now all of a sudden on the last 3 machines I've tested it with, once it's finished setting up Windows etc, the CPU goes to 100% and just sits there, and the SMS_Agent service is set to disabled. If I try to enable it and start it up, it shows as running until I run the actions through the SCCM Client, which show an error saying the Cycle can't be started, and then the service goes back to disabled. Any ideas? I literally have no idea why this is happening. The Task Sequence is attached below.

I have a problem where after OSD, the SCCM Client is installed, but the SMS_Agent service is set to disabled. If you enable it, and start it, it disables itself like 5 seconds later. CPU also runs at 100% non-stop.

Guys?? Surely there must be someone who knows how to use USMT with the State Migration Point (sccm 2012). I've checked online and there's literally nothing on how to set this up correcltly and to ensure it's all working.

Hi Guys, I'm needing a bit of help getting USMT working with OSD. I'm having a few issues in that USMT doesn't seem to work. There's no error messages or anything like that. It just doesn't load user data (I'm testing with background images and folders saved to the desktop). Are there any best practice guides etc for getting USMT working in an OSD Task Sequence? I can't seem to find it anywhere online. OSD seems to be working well, and it seems like the data for USMT is being copied to my SCCM server, as I can see the drive filling up (dedicated USMT drive), but obviously something is happening when it restores the data. When creating the task sequence, I've just let SCCM create the generic Image deployment TS, which has USMT jobs already listed.

Hi Guys, I'm trying to run OSD from within a PC's Operating System, but I seem to have some issues with USMT. Essentially, I am running the Task Sequence from Software Center, I can see that it is capturing user data. I can see on my SCCM server that the USMT location is filling up with the user data. After deploying the Operating System, it doesn't seem to keep the background and any locally saved files etc. Could you please let me know which Log I should be looking for so I can post it here? Note: I am running the capture user data TS in 'offline mode' so it's booted into Windows PE first.

Hi Guys, I was just wondering whether anyone knows of any guides or could write up a guide to get USMT working through a Task Sequence for OSD? I've tried a few times following videos from CBT Nuggets etc, but it doesn't seem to work perfectly, so I'm obviously missing something (refer to other threads I've made about USMT issues). Just wondering whether there is anything out there which has a step-by-step guide or something like that for ensuring USMT works well with OSD?

Hi Guys, We're looking at going through AD and cleaning up some old legacy Security Groups, but we're wanting to make sure that the groups aren't being used for anything currently (ie not used for GPOs, or file security etc). Does anyone know of any applications (free or paid) which can scan and give a list of security groups and whether they're actually being referenced by anything. The idea behind that is so we can delete Security Groups knowing full well that nothing is referencing them and nothing still break if the security group is suddenly not there anymore.

I just had a look in the C:\SMSPKGC$\CBT00006 folder, and found that amd64 folder wasn't there. I copied it there and ran OSD again, and this time it didn't error out. But USMT didn't actually work. The machine has been re-deployed with a new OS (still Windows 7), but the profiles haven't loaded. I will create a new thread for that issue.
