  1. It's not on the list with supported Configurations yet (http://technet.microsoft.com/nl-nl/library/cc161823(en-us).aspx) But I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't work...
  2. That is not gonna work.... When you want to use a Capture Only Task Sequence the machine has to be within the Boundaries, otherwise it is not possible to advertise anything to it... Then you should use a Capture CD.
  3. What steps do you run and how do you start it?
  4. This is a part of your smsts.log and it say's exactly what I already mentioned two(!) times before.....
  5. As mentioned in my previous reply: Most of the time that error has something to do with running in the wrong environment (WinPE instead of Full OS).
  6. I didn't try that yet... I do know that you can select during sequencing proces on which OS it can to run. Besides that I did sequence on Windows XP and use the application on Windows 7, but I didn't look at compatability...
  7. Probably the step that you are trying to start with has to run in full OS... I tried to do a Capture Only this weekend and it worked like a charm. I created a Task Sequence without a Mandatory schedule so i had to start it from the Run Advertised Programs. For Windows 7 my Task Sequence had the following steps: Join Workgroup Prepare ConfigMgr Client Prepare OS Capture the reference image
  8. There are already some guides on Technet (only without pictures ) See this link for general info (and on the bottom of it are some links to How-To's): http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680940.aspx
  9. I think your only options is to try to repair it.... Besides that i tried to do a Capture Only this weekend and it worked like a charm. I created a Task Sequence without a Mandatory schedule so i had to start it from the Run Advertised Programs. For Windows 7 my Task Sequence had the following steps: Join Workgroup Prepare ConfigMgr Client Prepare OS Capture the reference image For Windows XP I use the same steps but as last step of my BUILD I use a step Install Deployment Tools to copy the Sysprep package (which is already by default on a Windows 7 CLient)
  10. The documentation is kinda confusing on that part, but there can be multiple Active Software Update Points. Active in this case means that clients can use it for scanning etc. See also this discussion on the Technet Forum: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrsum/thread/102f653d-fcc2-41cf-bd8c-cc074de879f7
  11. Well... It is true that Windows 7 is officially supported since SP2 (which is already in RC), but you should be able to deploy a client... At least it worked with me. But to be sure if it is working or not I would try on a different OS or install SP2.
  12. That's default with all the standard install.wim's from Server 2008, Vista and Windows 7. When you don't want that, you have to create your own image (WIM).
  13. That only works with Software Updates and a deadline... Take a look at these Technet links about Task Sequence & Advertisements: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680317.aspx & http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb694199.aspx
  14. I looked at your settings again and I saw in the General tab the setting Make this task sequence available to boot media and PXE... You shouldn't put that setting as you don't want that, because you have to start it yourself
  15. Well it took some searching, but then I found this: http://blogs.technet.com/smsandmom/archive/2008/03/06/configmgr-2007-client-push-installation-method-in-a-workgroup.aspx --> It is just not supported to do a Client Push Installation on a Workgroup, which makes sense as you have to configure a installation account (which is almost always a domain account).
  16. I was reading your initial question again and I was wondering what exactly the problem is? Do you get the machines in sccm, but not in a special collections? Or don't you get them in sccm at all?
  17. I really would like to help, but I got no clue what you mean here...
  18. Can you contact those machines from the sccm server? For example does a ping or nslookup work?
  19. You do not need a Vista client, it works with XP too... Does your sccm client connect to your site? For example can it do an automatic discovery?
  20. Is there anything appearing at all in your client? Can it discover your site for example?
  21. When it doesn't have a mandatory schedule, it automaticly checks the checkbox "Allow users to run the program independently of assignments". Or in other words it will appear in your advertised programs.
  22. I can't be advertised for a PXE boot because the Deployment Tools need to run in a full OS... When I am doing something like this I use a non-mandatory advertisement of the Task Sequence so I can start it when I am ready.
  23. Can you show something of your smsts.log?
  24. Did you distribute the package to the DP again?
