  1. I would indeed create a separate site system in the DMZ in a separate domain. No problem from a ConfigMgr perspective.
  2. Software update deployments are not related to a specific package.. Do you see anything about update locations in the CAS.log or the LocationServices.log?
  3. Is the information of the secondary site still in the AD?
  4. After installation it might take some time before the status is reflecting correctly. For more information you can right-click on the component and click Show Messages > All. Even more information can be found in the log files (<InstallDirectory>\Microsoft Configuration Manager\Logs)
  5. In most cases when the device restarts after Preparing network connections.. the problem is with either the network card (driver), or that there are no task sequences available for the device.
  6. Just to get a better overview.. Can you list the different package and their package source location?
  7. Indeed install WSUS and don't configure it. Configure WSUS for SSL (see: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb633246.aspx) Install SUP and most settings will be taken from the first SUP. Just keep in mind that you need a certificate with at least the Internet FQDN.
  8. If they are user targetted applications, then it can simply be done via the client settings. See: http://www.petervanderwoude.nl/post/preventing-user-targeted-applications-and-policies-on-specific-systems-with-configmgr-2012/
  9. Looks like your system didn't get a policy yet that enables software updates.
  10. As an addon, I've also seen situations where I had to use MDT (Cscript %Scriptroot%\ZTINICConfig.wsf /ForceCapture)
  11. There is nothing within in ConfigMgr that would trigger a deletion of that folder. The only thing that I can think of right now is that there is another package with as source path a folder of a level higher (so it includes the other package folder), but even then I don't think that ConfigMgr would remove the folder.
  12. Did you check any status messages or log files?
  13. You might want to take a look at ClientIDManagerStartup log file.
  14. The source path for the package is indeed where ConfigMgr will download the updates to. Also, that folder will never be deleted by ConfigMgr, not even after deleting the package...
  15. Sorry.. Did you try to run the script on a test machine, without using ConfigMgr?
  16. It's not that common because usually if an installation needs to be in the user directory, user rights are also sufficient. There are anly dirty workarounds in case your really needs the user directory and system credentials. One last idea, whatever the installation is, try to split it up in a machine part and a user part. Run an installation with SYSTEM rights and set user settings with user rights.
  17. Correct. Do the updates now also arrive on the clients?
  18. Yeah, it doesn't download content automatically (unless with an ADR of course). Main reason for that is that there is no link between an update group/update deployment and a deployment package.
  19. After redistributing them to the distribution point, just run a validation of the content, to be sure, and you should be fine.
  20. You're getting close already. When the updates are downloaded to a deployment package and are member of a update group, only one step is left.. deploy the updates! Deploy the updates to a collection and you are deploying updates via ConfigMgr/SUP.
  21. Erhmm... this script only TRIES to perform two deinstallations...
  22. I can't find any real documentation about it, but here is a nice discussion about this subject: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/85787201-bdb1-418b-8842-e0770721bc49/how-does-a-client-select-a-management-point Specifically the answer of Kent, which states: Client will select in this order: Local forest HTTPS Randomly in the site
  23. But is the machine successfully joined to the domain?
  24. Than how did you get the content for your manual deployment?
