  1. Take a look at this post where Raphael shows it all by screenshots: http://wmug.co.uk/wmug/b/dotraphael/archive/2012/09/20/deploying-windows-8-apps.aspx
  2. Even though it's a post written in the BETA time, it's still a good read about this subject: http://blogs.technet.com/b/inside_osd/archive/2011/04/11/configuration-manger-2012-content-prestaging.aspx
  3. I can only tell where you can find it, because the integration doesn't work yet in the BETA build of SP1. It can be found in Administration > Overview > Hierarchy Configuration > Windows Intune Subscriptions.
  4. You need to use the Apply Windows Settings -step, because that's the moment it will write things like the computername to the answerfile... See also threads like this: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrgeneral/thread/af5a8b11-3fe2-4603-b87f-9f0e914357e8
  5. Adjust the discoveries to not discover devices and/ or adjust the maintenance tasks.
  6. Yeah, but then you still need to check if it's installed or not and then uninstall it. An other option is to create your own small detection script.
  7. Then how are you trying to update your image?
  8. Which updates are you deploying via ConfigMgr? And how did you configure it?
  9. Put both files in your package and add a create a batchfile with a command like "%~dp0setup.exe" /s /f1"%~dp0setup.iss" and then use the batchfile as the program.
  10. Out-of-the-box that's only possible with superseding an old version of the application, but the old version needs to exist within ConfigMgr as an application,.
  11. Use the batch variable %~dp0
  12. What is exactly the difference, in your opinion, between windows updates and Microsoft updates?
  13. Take a good look at the client logs and then specifically the client assignment. Having only those actions usually means that the client somehow isn't registered or assigned to the site, at least it doesn't get policies...
  14. What settings did you configure in you task sequence and what else does your log file show?
  15. Did you adjust that LDAP string to you lab environment?
  16. Please update the post with the solution. In this case it was probably the checkbox Allow this application to be installed from the Install Application task sequence action without being deployed.
  17. Nope, you can set UDA during the task sequence, but the applications will be deployed after the task sequence is finished. This weekend I started with a sample idea how something like this might be possible with Orchestrator and AD groups: http://www.petervanderwoude.nl/post/pre-provision-user-applications-based-on-group-membership-during-os-deployment-via-orchestrator-and-configmgr-2012/
  18. Nope, as long as your DNS is functioning, you're fine!
  19. For a hardlink store you need at least /hardlink.
  20. What is it that you are trying to do? Because OSDcomputername can be used to change the value of _SMSTSMachineName, so by doing this you're not changing anything...
  21. Then it will install no matter what the maintenance windows is.. As long as you do not ignore maintenance windows for restarts, then you'll be fine. When a user is using the program, then it depends on the msi and/ or your own scripting to capture that behavior and act on it.
  22. It will wait until the next schedule.
  23. Well, it depends on what you exactly mean.. The application it self can be easily deployed during a task sequence, but that's not user-based. A task sequence is always computer-based.
  24. I use it all the time for exactly the same reason, to enable bitlocker (or deploy specific software) on laptops only. It saves you from re-inventing the wheel...
