How to use software update point, during OS deployment
jeaostro replied to jeaostro's question in Software Update Point
The failed part doesn't bother me that much, the problem is that the "installing updates proces"s stops when it hits an "error", would like it to continue even if a couple of updates failed to install. Possible? Its so easy to just apply the "all windows xp updates" to a deployment task, so that the client installs what it needs, less work for me you know, well if it just worked.... ) -
How to use software update point, during OS deployment
jeaostro replied to jeaostro's question in Software Update Point
Hello Did as you showed me above, and added it to the OS deployment task. (Install all updates). But i get the following error 3 minutes after the "Install updates task" has started: The task sequence execution engine failed executing the action (Install Windows XP All Updates) in the group (Install Software) with the error code 2147500037 Action output: 0a3-e713-432e-96d5-08559c69491d failed with hr = 0x80040669 Update with CIID Site_F6CED26F-D6DA-4E0A-BF2F-4D108B551B04/SUM_38d40594-4a82-41ec-a26a-3297f3940276 failed with hr = 0x80040669 Update with CIID Site_F6CED26F-D6DA-4E0A-BF2F-4D108B551B04/SUM_d7089405-0438-4724-882f-6a67d15ba537 failed with hr = 0x80040669 Update with CIID Site_F6CED26F-D6DA-4E0A-BF2F-4D108B551B04/SUM_94b5c0c3-8cc0-4b16-a3b5-8f148507da6e failed with hr = 0x80040669 Update with CIID Site_F6CED26F-D6DA-4E0A-BF2F-4D108B551B04/SUM_20e6483f-eba9-40d1-89f4-1940f79cba3b failed with hr = 0x80040669 Received job completion notification from Updates Deployment Agent InstallUpdates(pInstallUpdate, tType, sJobID, ulCookie), HRESULT=80004005 (e:\nts_sms_fre\sms\client\osdeployment\installswupdate\main.cpp,279) Setting TSEnv variable SMSTSInstallUpdateJobGUID= Process(pInstallUpdate, tType), HRESULT=80004005 (e:\nts_sms_fre\sms\client\osdeployment\installswupdate\main.cpp,349) One or more updates failed to install, hr=0x80004005. Hello Are there any issues if we are running the Central Primary Parent Site with SP1, and set up a new Primary Child site with SP2? Or is it best practice to run both the sites with SP2? Best regards. jean andré

advertisment of application problems
jeaostro replied to jeaostro's question in Deploy software, applications and drivers
almost now I'm trying the following: The Clue Package has 2 applications, One for the clue installation, and one for the Kill Clue. Kill clue is as follows:cmd.exe /c TASKKILL /F /IM clue.exe Added that Kill clue runs before clue installation. If clue is running it is stopped and then the clue installation starts. But if clue is not running, cmd returns a error to sccm, and then sccm tries to run "kill clue" over and over again(kill clue return failed because the program wasn't running ). It never gets to the install clue on computers where clue isn't running. -
Hello SCCM is configured to synchronize computer names from AD. But if we change the computer name in Active Directory(AD), or delete the Computer from AD. Will SCCM update the information in the collections? Will the name also change inn SCCM, or the computer will be removed automatically? Best regards. Jean André

advertisment of application problems
jeaostro replied to jeaostro's question in Deploy software, applications and drivers
Of course, didn't think of the "run another program first". I will make a .bat file that kills the clue.exe process first Thanks a lot Program Run behavior: "rerun if installation fails", shouldn't that one rerun the installation if it reports "failed" to sccm? -
thanks for the response, it works! Didn't understand where to put the %, but now it works like we want to

advertisment of application problems
jeaostro posted a question in Deploy software, applications and drivers
Hello Get a little big problem here : We Pushed out Adobe reader to users(setup.exe file with parameters) and this works well. If the user is running Adobe the application shuts down, and installs the new version of Adobe. But for Winzip(.msi) and Clue(.msi) the following occurs: Clue = If the users is running clue the installation fails, and the advertisement doesn't try to run again, even if i set it up with "if failed, run again" Clue = If the users is not running clue the installation(update) is successful. Winzip= When updating from 12 to the newest version msiexec crashes and the dialog with "send error rapport" comes up. Is there some kind of msi parameter so that the application will shut down before the update starts??? Thanks for the response. Best regards. Jean André -
Hello We are advertising a software to a collection, and adding new members to the collection daily threw direct membership. But in the "System" "name" and "value" we can only enter one computer name at a time in the "value". Is it possible to enter more then one name to add computers to this collection? Something like: Computer1;Computer2;Computer3 , so that these 3 computers will be added to the collection with direct membership rules, and we don't have to go threw the wizard 3 times for these computers. We are adding 10 computers each day. Thanks

Optiplex 960 seems to take forever to boot to PXE

Will it be possible to remove the RC of SP2, then install the RTM of SP2 when it is released? Or will the removal of RC SP2 also remove the SCCM Site? -
Optiplex 960 seems to take forever to boot to PXE
jeaostro replied to etruscan's question in How do I ?
Hello Will it be possible to update from the SP2 RC to SP2 RTM? Is the RC stable enough to use in a live environment? We would really like to start deploying Windows 7 computers with SCCM. Best Regards. Jean André -
Two quick questions Is there a reason not to use "Install Windows Internal Database on this computer" (WSUS Database) Using MS SQL like you did will increase the license cost since we need a SQL license. And is it a best practice to "create a Windows Server Update Services 3.0 Sp1 Web site?" (WSUS IIS Site) Thanks for a great guide! Best regards Jean André

OS deployment and Lenovo computers
jeaostro replied to jeaostro's question in Deploy software, applications and drivers
The solution for me was to use command lines in the task. One Command line that copy (xcopy) the packet from the distribution point to a path on the computer. Then another command line to run the application(setup.exe /s) from the path where i put the file(c:\drivers\xxx). Works :) Thanks for the help guys Will try to use SCCM with Lenovo Update Retriever later on, that looks like a better solution for "auto updating lenovo drivers and applications". -

OS deployment and Lenovo computers
jeaostro replied to jeaostro's question in Deploy software, applications and drivers
status update: I changed my "test advertisement" from "Run Program from distribution point" to "Download content from distribution point and run locally", then the applications got installed. But this isn't a solution for me Then I have to change the advertisement of the OS deployment task to "Download the content from distribution point and run locally", and that runs to slow.... Is there a way to change the package so it can get installed with "run program from distribtuion point"? Change some settings somewhere, so that i can trick it in to working
