Creation of collection can be done in two ways like direct membership /Querybased (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb694209.aspx) Create a new collection ,select querybased rule and go to criteria .Select new Criteria ,type:simple ,attribute class:ssystem Resource and attribute type :System OU Name value should be equal to AD OU which you are looking for. Here is a simple collection that you can taget only to Specific OU : select SMS_R_System.ResourceID,SMS_R_System.ResourceType,SMS_R_System.Name,SMS_R_System.SMSUniqueIdentifier,SMS_R_System.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup,SMS_R_System.Client from SMS_R_System where SystemOUName = "[b]eskon.com/Workstation/XP[/b]"

If the machines are not sent their scan results then it shows as Detection state Unknow because of this,SCCM cont say if the Update is needed or not . Check if failed machines sent their scna results to the SCCM or not ? if not,check if you have corect the wUA version. can you post scanagent.log file ?

Yes.Try removing the IIS and add IIS role.Install all the prereq for MP (for webdav install/ config look at here http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/490-how-can-i-configure-sccm-2007-sp1-in-windows-server-2008/ Issues: SMS_Client Config mgr: There might be quite log of scneraios to occur this issue.If you are trying to client push install,ensure your (client push) account have sufficeicnt rights in installing .For more information about this, look at ccm.log on your site server. Aslo check your firewall if it is enabled.You can use GPO to disable it. also check your SCCM Site boundaries.are they correct ? Did you check if you have any DNS issues ?Try to ping the client by name does it get the correct IP address? Long back i had similar problem ,this was due to DNS name resolution. What does the "clientlocation.log" say on the failed system? Did you install Out-OF-Band AMT role? Can you try disabling maintenance tasks under site maintanance-->Reset AMT Computer Passwords & Evaluate Provisioned AMT computer Certificate.

hmm....This seems to be an issue with IIS.Try Removing MP role(delete) ,Remove IIS,Install IIS w/ BITS and WEBDAV ,later Add MP role This should give postive result.

Its resolved it now by adding the Custom image settings(xml file) under apply operating system task in TS.

could you post mp log files which are present in SCCM installation folder\Logs.Also check if your WDS services are running for PXE service point error. Have you tried restaring the server to see if that could help.Sometimes it helps if all the prereq are running fine.

I am sure that,This TS doesnt do any changes with the Keyboard settings.But when I do the TS deploy onto the XP machines,It gets UK English Keybaord settings instead US English settings .If i create TS for a Bare metal systems,It takes only US English Key Board settings.should i need to create any xml files for the keybaord settings?

Hi, Sorry for the delay.It is succeded but doesnt restore the user profiles.I can see USMToffline folder in Systemdrive and it has all the user profiles contained in C$ folder.Here is the patch where all user profiles are stored. c:\usmtoffline\usmt\file\c$\documents and settings.

Hi, Yes,it created 2 folders and i am testing it on Virtual with option Undo Disk(which doesnt require to delete created folders) Hmmmm.The interesting thing is ,i ran it once again on a Vitual to see if it works.It passed the wiping system drive without any error and now applying the image.There are no changes that has been done since this error occurd but it works greatly.I will let you know the result on this soon!

Created a Media from the TS(off-line mode) and boot from DVD on a standalone machine to upgrade to win 7 but it fails at wiping the system Drive task.could not find any error messages form the smsts.log .Attached the screenshot as well Log file.(PAckage ID:C0100047 is runscan state and C0100049 is USMTx86) .anything wrong in the TS? smsts.log

You can simply create a custom command line in ur TS name it as :Activate machines with the command line :cscript.exe c:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs -ato with a start in command line C:\windows\system32

Can you check under site hierarchy-->site system-->site system status ,if you are able to see PXE service point role (the drive which you have seletced for this role) ? if so try to access the share from the run command like \\in-cm01\smspxeimages$ where in-cm01 is the my SCCM server.

can you check ,if you have given the correct OU in the AD system discovery to discover the servers? can you post adsysdis.log to get any hints?

Just working on the patch report to make it more simplied for the deployed patches for the month so though of sharing it here. Looks like the one posted above is wasty or it gives some unwanted information as well.This report doesnt require any inputs,you just need to edit the script(like summ.ID='MS10-006') to provide the Bulletin ID's which are all you patches in ur environment. after you run the report,it looks like below ,The same report still works in SCCM 2007 as well in similar way. attached query report. Seems that,you made the advertisement as Mandatory assignments .check your advertimsent properties ,if the schedule is mandatory assignment or not ?Mandatory advertisements will not show up in run advertise programs window also check the Execmgr.log file on your client to see if it is getting the advertisement (%Systemroot%\System32\CCM\Logs\Execmgr.log)

If you look into the system properties,is it showing x days remaining until activation ? if so ,try this in command prompt "c:\windows\system32\cscript slmgr.vbs –ato" which connect to the server to activate automatically.To run this command,you should have admin rights on the computer.

If you have lot of computers which are not approved ,you can simply approve it using the VB script.
