  1. At the age of 5, I wrecked my first electronic device (a remote control car) to make a remote control airplane out of it. Although the airplane wouldn’t fly, I managed to get it to ride . As of this point I’ve always been interested in - and passionate about technology. At the age of 12, my mother bought me my first computer, a 486-DX2. Since then I started learning about these pieces of technology. At the age of 14, a local PC-supplier took me in at the weekends to help him out. In return I got to learn different aspects of the PC and networking. When I went to the University I decided to take on law-school, paying this with ICT-work (installing small business environments), but at the end, my real passion was still lying in computer land and it got the upper hand of me. So I started learning for some certifications and began working for a local ICT-company. Today I’m working for an IT service provider, implementing and supporting Service Center Configuration Manager.
  2. can you please post a screenshot of the actual situation? I guess something isn't filled in as it's supposed to be.
  3. Please also check on top on the right on MSDN if your language is in English. Otherwise you're in for a long search
  4. SCCM 2007 sp1 uses WAIK 1.1. This should get you going Otherwise you have to remove it manually from the registry and the harddisk, but this isn't my preferred way of working.
  5. Hi all, Hi have installed a SCCM server in a domain which has a single forest with multiple subdomains, lets call them TOP and the subdomaing SUB.TOP. I installed the server in de domain SUB.TOP. When I configure the "Active Directory System Discovery" and I use the "Custom LDAP or GC query" option and click the browse button, then i'm browsing the TOP domain. I'd like to be able to browse the SUB.TOP domain, is this possible? Or did I do something wrong in the implementation phase? (if y type the ldapquery "ldap://DC.SUB.TOP/OU=//computers" myself it discovers the clients, but I can't browse the SUB.TOP) Please, can someone explain?
  6. Hi all, We have a tutorial here that explains the setup of a SCCM server. Now i'd like to encourage all guru's here to create here a list that enumerates the differences and pinpoints you have to take into consideration if you are implementing SCCM in a forest with multiple domains. What is uttermostly important and where dou you have to pay attention for? I'm asking because i have to implement a SCCM server very shortly in such an evironment and i'd like to be as prepared as possible.
  7. thx for confirming my method
  8. Hi all, I'm in need of a way to create a deployment tasksequence which needs to create 2 partitions. An image should be put on the C-drive, the D-drive should contain the mydocuments, Desktop and all other data. How can I reach this goal the easiest? How should you do it, considering the fact that you want to use a wimfile for the deployment? Kind Regards, BenjAdmin
  9. Thanks, This solved my problem in my testenvironment.
  10. - When using AD Sites and Services for your boundaries, please verify those are correctly installed and the ranges are properly defined. Otherwise the publishing of the site in Active Directory Domain Services as described in step 3 will work, but the clients will not find their site.
  11. Extra information: - If McAfee antivirus is installed on the server, the installation won't report error's, but the regkey's aren't written correctly, this can cause the server to malfunction whithouth generating helpfull logs. The McAfee antivirus should be disabled when installing the SCCM server.
  12. I'm logged in when this happens. Which browser i use doesn't matter. I just tried to log ou before I try it and then it works. So it has something to do with my account.
  13. Sorry for the late response (been very busy and forgot to check this topic) It actually doesn't matter what link on the front page i click. I get it almost every time. an example: MMS keynote day 2 if i click on "r3 earth day.JPG (35.05K)" i'll get the error also. kind regards, BenjAdmin
  14. In this tutorial (2 parts) I created a Domain Controller with a DNS server and activated the remote management for this server. I also configured a host for remote management of this domain. The steps I performed: c:\sconfig (configure hostname, remote tools and networkconfiguration) c:\dcpromo /?:Promotion (lists al the options that are available for the unattendfile) c:\notepad (create the unattendfile, saved it to c:\unattended.txt) c:\dcpromo /unattend:c:\unattended.txt (start the installation of the Domain Controller role) c:\shutdown /f /r /t 0 (reboot the server to apply the newly installed role) The unattended file I used in my presentation: [DCINSTALL] Childname=Testopia ConfirmGc=Yes DNSOnNetwork=No ForestLevel=4 DomainNetBiosName=TESTOPIA InstallDNS=Yes NewDomain=Forest NewDomainDNSName=testopia.intra Password=* RebootOnCompletion=No SafeModeAdminPassword=1234Test ReplicaOrNewDomain=Domain
  15. This tutorial shows you how to setup a basic domain controller. Please notice that this setup doesn’t provide best practices, just a basic installation of a domain controller! Short overview of the steps to take: -Install the Active Directory Domain Services role and the .Net framework 3.5. -Use dcpromo.exe to create a Dynamic Name Server role and complete the Active Directory installation. -Reboot the server. -Enjoy your freshly installed Domain Control
  16. If you are using a Private network without having a network available with your host (or you don't want to have a network with you host), then you can create a folder with the content you want and use a convertprogram like Folder2Iso to make an Iso with the content of this folder and mount this through the DVD
