Hello everybody, I've recently migrated to SCCM 2012 and have been having one hell of a time trying to figure out why I cannot manually install the 2012 client (I have uninstalled the 2007 client). I've done some more digging and found that the problem is with the client configuration manager client, when i try ti discover the site, it gives me the following error: Automatic Site Code Discovery Was Unsuccessful Searching up a solution for this now.... Any tips are welcome

Afternoon everybody, I am having some issues pushing down Visual Studio 2010 to a client system, any help is appreciated: here is the information that I assume will be relevant for troubleshooting: deployment Visual Studio 2010 to a windows 2008 R2 system with client version of 4.00.6487.2000 -firewall has been disabled on client -client has been imported into collections through computer association (client has been installed but is not the 'client bar' is showing as 'no' and approved is "N/A" (this could be a problem?) -there is no ccm folder for client logs located under C:\Windows\System32 (this is a 64bit OS) -distribution point has been created and updated with every change to the package -data source is a UNC share \\pfsccm2007\Base Software Installs\Visual Studio 2010\Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 -always obtain files from source dir. -data access is set to 'access the distro folder through common configmgr package share -command line setting is point to the \\pfsccm2007\Base Software Installs\Visual Studio 2010\Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 share with setup.exe /q /norestart as the command line command, it is run as hidden with no action required after running -it is run whether or not a user is logged on with admin rights and the user is NOT able to interact with this program and the drive mode is set to run with UNC name -program nofitications are suppressed and this program can be I have imported the MSI (not sure if it is necessary considering i am already pointing to the setup.exe with the silent/no reboot parameters, but here is what i have configured: \\pfsccm2007\Base Software Installs\Visual Studio 2010\Microsoft Visual Studio 2010\vs_setup.msi I have created the advertisement for the specified collection but for whatever reason I do not see any progress, which includes: nothing showing up in program download monitor, nor do I see anything in the temp download folder, and there seems to be no network action in the task manager Please let me know if anything else is required or if I am not being clear enough in my post, thank you for your assistance in advance guys! execmgr.log smsts.log

Afternoon everybody, I have began setting up Wake on LAN for our primary site (and only site). I understand the setup for this is divided into 3 main aspects/parts: SCCM 2007 Server must be enabled for Wake on Lan Enabling feature under Site Management Hardware Inventory must be enabled Client machines are running the R3 build of Config Manager Client 2. Workstation settings BIOS setting for WOL must be supported and enabled NIC Card must support WOL and must be enabled to receive Magic Packets in its devices->drivers tab under power management 3. Switch configuration Enable IP directed broadcasts (only if using subnet directed broadcasts) With this I will be able to push driver/windows/software updates while a group of systems in a collection is set to sleep between lets say 11PM to 7AM the next morning...(while they are woken up at 5AM to install these patches) My question is: If a user (that has absolutely NO access to the SCCM server) has his system asleep and he has to troubleshoot a critical issue at 2AM in the morning because of a phone call...what are his ways of waking up his system? The only thing I can think of is using a 3rd party Wake on LAN agent (but that'd be counter productive...) Any insights guys? Would be greatly appreciated.

I've upgraded my site to R3 and pushed out the hotfix for R3 to s small test group of users in our department successfully along with enabling power management on my site under site management/site settings/site systems/site-name I am able to run pre-R3 reports but when i went through a tutorial to setup power management reporting, there is a further option under computer management/reporting/reporting services that I am missing and don't know how to add http://scug.be/cfs-file.ashx/__key/CommunityServer.Blogs.Components.WeblogFiles/sccm/image_5F00_0B5D1F54.png My site does not have the redded-out server-name under the reporting services...nor is there an option to add the server. My site does have R3 setup, the sql reporting service is running for my sccm2007 instance... Is there some sort of sync i have to run with my sql server to be able to be able to see the server itself or does it require a configuration/import inside of sccm r3?

Hello, I've recently upgraded my mixed mode 1 site sccm 2007 SP2 server to R3...the system created the package and everything but the updates are not being pushed down. I made sure that the package was properly Installed (state wise) and that it was advertised to the proper group and all clients were still active (distro points haven been numerously updated). But for some reason the package is not pushed down to the collection I assigned it to. Are there any specific steps I can go through to troubleshoot this?Permissions? specific log files, etc... (i've manually applied the .msp to my system and the power management options did appear in the control panel under Configuration Manager). any help is appreciated, thank you.

I have solved the issue I get with the WinPE crapping out, the issue was that I had to re-create the WINPE image, I think this is because the img I was using did not have the 3 windows components that SCCM2007 requires to use (scripting, wmi, and xml)(xml is included in all base winpe images nowadays)...SO now I got to the part where the client actually downloads the .wim image and applies it, it got through about half of the application and then crapped out to this error code 0x80070032 the smsts.log is located in C:\Program Files\SMS_CCM\Logs for me but it has not updated since early yesterday morning but since you said that i should check my largest partition I assume that its not the one you want me to check: I found the 1 on my D partition(largest) this one has not ben updated since 6/24/2009! Any suggestions? ---------------------------------------------- I am using sccm2007 SP2 so I assume I have to get the windows 7 drivers for it-where can I get my hands on the generic ones? Also this is my imaging process...I'll explain it to the best of my ability! I have a custom collection in which I added my lab box to using the computer association feature and I refresh the clients ability to get an OS deployed to it by clearing the last pxe advertisement and using the query feature available in the collections settings. I use the WInPE x64bit image as the lab box is of 64bit architecture (quad-core). I created a package under operating system images in which its a base 32bit Windows 7 one (already been captured manually by me using the imagex cmd from WinPE) I created a task sequence for it and made sure to use the 64bit WinPE boot image. Em assuming that the info I just gave you isn't the most descriptive or enough-please let me know what other information I should provide.

Also, do I need specific drivers injected into the boot.wim file for the OS to be deployed? I assume its the network and storage drivers for the specific motherboards?

Thanks to this forum I've taken big steps in OS deploys...so thank you to everybody who's guides I've used and to everybody who's responded to my cries for help-I appreciate it a lot! My current issue is this: (the error I get is attached) windows PE cannot start because the actual systemroot directory (X:\Windows) is different form the configuired one... I will also attach the smsts.log and the smspxe.log files. Hopefully these things will help you! thanks for the help buddy i think the only configuration changes that you have to make in your DHCP server is IF your dhcp is on the same server as your WDS...then you need to add those 60, 67, 68 dhcp options to the server. I've finally grabbed an IP address through PXE boot on my client, the problem I have now is that when I try to go to the next step of the pxe boot...(where it should load the OS install/capture using the WinPE .wim) I get a windows boot manager screen saying it cant find the: file: \boot\bcd status: Oxc000098 the windows boot configuration data file does not contain a valid OS entry. My task sequence is being advertised to the collection with my client pc (added it to it using computer association) and it is pointing to the: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\OSD\boot\i386\boot.wim Any suggestions?

I have configuired my sccm server according to your guides, very helpful but there is still one issue! my client machine does not receive a Client IP address once it boots up from PXE, is this an issue with my dhcp server or do I have to push down a network driver included in the windows 7 source install/or add it to the task sequence WITH the windows 7 installer? is there anything you guys can refer me to to solve this issue?its the last issue I BELIEVE I have before I can actually deploy an OS. I got the package to be pushed onto a client (using task sequencing) (http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/1516-applications-installation-precedence/) the data was being downloaded and everything so i let it run...once i checked back into the client after a while the screen was gone with no messages and no VS2008 installed, is there a directory i can check to see if the package was actually downloaded locally or what? I've been trying to understand the client logs but it just doesnt get through to my brain-is there any confirmation i can do?where did this go wrong?

i created the package, program, and distribution point using the firefox tutorial and this : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee225239.aspx this is what it gives me in the logs...( capture.jpg) there is nothing about it trying to contact the client..doesnt even fail or anything (i deploeyed firefox a few minutes earlier successfully with no problem i am trying to push this onto a test box i have (hyper-V) that i just successfully installed the firefox app. on I figure that the server is correctly configuired as it CAN push the firefox client itself...so the server is talking to the client successfully. It must be that my distru/program/package is wrongly configuired?

yup. it just stays stuck in the dhcp...there has to be specific settings that i'd have to setup on the dhcp server to make it advertise its services to clients

Once i try to PXE boot, the clients get stuck on the DHCP....... loader. I have the PXE service port configuired I created a collection group for named MultiTask (like in the walkthrough) I have the Microsoft COnfig Manager CLient Installation 4.0 under software distru\packages I have the task sequence configuired under operating system deployment What else am i missing guys?
