  1. I have a small site: -no cas -one primary site server (MP,DataBase,) -one site system server (wsus, DP) I started getting messages that My primary site server was running out of disk space. When I investigated, I saw that it was adding content to the C: drive as if its a DP (DP role is not installed this machine). When I add the NO_SMS_ON_DRIVE.SMS the content distributions all fail. Is this normal for the files to want to reside on the primary site server? The DP server does get updated files when I distribute the content but is not the actual exe's like on the primary server. Can I disable the primary server from hosting files? If not can I move the file using ContentLibraryTransfer.exe? Any insight on what is going on would be appreciated. Thanks.
  2. Can some one explain what triggers wake on lan? -Is it sent when updates are marked as available? -Or is it sent when the update installation deadline is reached?
  3. I deploy my updates to a collection with a maintenance plan of 9-11pm. Now when I deploy other applications to collections that don't have maintenance plans it wants to wait until "the next available window to install the applications" I'm assuming that a computer must apply maintenance windows from all the collections its a part of? If that's the case what do most people use for "default" maintenance plans? And just a follow up: If I deploy an app and have it downloaded. then the user shuts down their computer and goes home. Will sccm send a wake up packet so the computer is on during the maintenance window (if wake on LAN is setup?)
  4. So i've read some 2007 post that are saying network access user needs to be setup. I set it up as well, no change. What logs should I be checking for errors?
  5. I've been running sccm 2012 in a test environment for 2 month now and everything was running smooth. Due to some other issues I ended up uninstalling my sccm server and site. I have re-installed everything, using a new site code. Everything is working except I cannot get the clients to auto approve! If I change the hierarchy settings to "automatically approve all computers" it obviously works. Can you guys give me some insight into what I need to check so the clients will auto approve if they are in a trusted domain? Setup: 2 sccm servers -server 1: componenet server, MP, Site DB server, site server,Site System -server 2: DP, Site system 1 domain no CAS The only other thing that about this test network is that it is running 2012 schema, but I don't think that will matter?
  6. Just wondering what are peoples opinion when it come to the client being on Domain controllers. I have 3 DCs without the client being installed and really have no good reason not too install it. what do most organzations do?
  7. I've read everywhere that your network access account should only be a domain user, which mine was (smsread). Package deployment and everything works great. However when I deploy OS's it errors out saying “This task sequence cannot be run because the program files for <your package here> are inaccessible on the distribution point.” Unless I change my NAC user to smsadmin who is a domain admin. Can someone enlighten me on what the best practice is and if there is a work around to not use the domain sms account? Thanks.
  8. I have a collection "adobe 9.3.1" which queries add/remove for adobe 9.3.1. It seems to work fine. But once I install reader 10 on the computers it does not seem to update the add/remove portion in Resource Explorer. Thus my collection never gets smaller? -I'm runing the Hardware Inventory Client Agent every 3 hours. Is there something else I can do to force the update?
  9. Thank You! that explains it. I have it enabled but it was only running every x number of days. That also explains why the OU eventually shows up. Thanks Again!
  10. Ok. So after i scavanged my DNS I had 55 ddr errors. So I know that error is simply because the computers don't exist in DNS. Solved. But... Message ID 5202. SMS Active Directory System Discovery Agent read the AD Containers and found 1 valid AD Container entries in the site control file. This is telling me that sccm is finding the machine I added and the machine is showing up in 'all systems' but why is it not updatig the OU location? In the coming months I'll be migrating 70 machines to my network and really need the OU structure to update. How long should it normally take?
  11. I have a few machines that have been online for 2 days now. They show up in the collection "All Systems" but never populate their AD OU locations. When I run the AD_System_Discovery I recieve the following errors: Message ID 5202. SMS Active Directory System Discovery Agent read the AD Containers and found 1 valid AD Container entries in the site control file. Active Directory System Discovery Agent identified 328 systems in the AD Containers and generated 317 system discovery data records (DDRs) and 11 errors while attempting to create DDRs. Message ID 5203 SMS Active Directory System Discovery Agent reported errors for 11 objects. DDR's were generated for 0 objects that had errors while reading non-critical properties. DDR's were not generated for 11 objects that had errors while reading critical properties. Possible cause: The SMS Service might not have access to some properties of this object. The container specified might not have the properties available. Solution: Please verify the Active Directory schema for properties that are not replicated or locked. Refer to the discovery logs for more information. The problem is that I can not find where the discovery logs are located. Its on a winXP client and a server 2008 R2 server. adsysdis.log is what I think I'm looking for. Can someone tell me if this is correct and where I find it? Thanks. I think I'm looking for
  12. Update. I rebooted my server and went to bed. The next morning all the OU information is showing up! I do have a couple things showing <null> like AD Domain Name and CPU type. The funny thing is I can't remeber on my last server if those showed up fo me then. Should the client be pulling this information? Is there a log that will show the failed queries? On a side note. This forum is the best, I've been using it for a year now and this is the first time I have not found the info in a previous post.
  13. What component actually queries the username / Domain, InventoryAgent?
  14. I'm really struggling here. I have redone my SCCM server and I'm installing clients with the client push method. The clients are taking down the new client but in the admin console I'm missing some information. The clients say they have the advanced client installed which is good, they have some information like IP address, netbios name etc. But are missing critical fields like what OU they belong to or last signed on user. What logs do you need to see? Please HELP.
