  1. Thanks Niall, I did have a look at that article, ended up calling Microsoft, according to them, upgrade from trial to real version is not supported.. it was not that painful, with some documentation from previous install, I was able to re-install the whole server. Thank you for your help
  2. We were running System Center 2007 SP2 R3 trial version for 180 days and had our site fully configured and functional. We had attempted an upgrade to R3 real version using the Volume Licensing CD with proper licensing, the upgrade apparently ran and we thought everything went ok. However, just yesterday when the 180 day limit got over, the trial expired and we now SCCM does console does not show any collections, boot images, driver packages, task sequences, advertisments etc. However, the server is still responding to PXE and when machine boots up they see the advertisments and can download the images and execute task sequences etc. We had the SCCM database on a SQL server 2008 server which is on another server. Is there a way to do a fresh install of SCCM and then import all the settings from this databse on the SQL server ? Thanks
  3. This happened because the eval version expired and when it does, you get no notification but the security rights are all deleted.
  4. We are unable to see anything under collections, Operating System Images, Task Sequences, Advertisments etc in our SCCM MMC, both on the server and remotely. We are running SCCM 2007 R3. Yet we know that SCCM is working because PXE is working, when a machine boots up to PXE, it sees all the advertisment, choosing an advertisment runs the proper task sequnce and builds the machine properly. But we can not see anything under Collections, and hence are unable to remotely help any of our users using remote help. Please help. TIA

  6. Thanks niall, I never knew about HTA. I guess I have lots of reading to do. I would rather stay away from MDT since we are using SCCM already.. Thanks for your help
  7. Hello- We are using SCCM 2007 R2 to deploy Windows Seven images to machines successfully. In order to take the load off our PXE server, we have created Stand Alone Task Sequence Media either on a USB thumb drive or DVD for different images we have for the machines. The stand alone media works What we are wanting to do, is to fit more than one Task Sequence (there are different task sequences to deploy different images, for example for KIOSK, Workstation, Cashier POS etc) on the same physical stand alone media (such as a 32 GB USB stick). Can you please tell us how we can do this ? TIA SamayCSA
  8. Thank you for getting back to me, I really appreciate the help you provide via this website. Running the command will "ADD" an "Existing" domain user to the local admin group. What I was trying to accomplish here was to "Create" a local user account, add his to local admins group and set a password for the account as well. Thanks
  9. Somebody must know how to do this...
  10. Hello- I am using SCCM R2 and using it to deploy Windows 7 machines. It has been working great so far, except just one thing. I need to create another local administrator account on my refrence image. I could have included this account by creating it before the machine gets imaged by SCCM, however I am also using the "CopyProfile" tag to copy the admin profile to the default profile on the machine and apparently you can only have ONE local account on the machine when you do this else you will have problems. The only other way to create a local account was to have an XML answer file, and use it while deploying the image back to a machine. So I created a Task Sequence to deploy, and Under the Install Operating System -> Apply Operating System, I specify a Sysprep answer file from a package that has the following section to create the local account and add it to local administrators group. <UserAccounts> <LocalAccounts> <LocalAccount wcm:action="add"> <Password> <Value>KgAqAFIAYgBjAG0AMgAwADAANQBQAGEAcwBzAHcAbwByAGQA</Value> <PlainText>false</PlainText> </Password> <DisplayName>Local Admin 2</DisplayName> <Name>LocalAdmin</Name> <Group>Administrators</Group> </LocalAccount> </LocalAccounts> </UserAccounts> But its not working, can you please tell me what am I doing wrong ? Thanks
  11. Hello All- I am running SCCM R2 and MDT on the same server. I was wondering if anyone knew how to capture a "non syspreped" image using SCCM. I have tried using SCCM custom task sequence and giving it only "Capture Operating System Image" step but it fails. I have also tried using the "Build and Capture" task sequence and removing the "Build" steps but it also fails. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
