Hi Everyone, We use task sequences to deploy software applications to machines such as applications that require multiple steps and conditions such as uninstalling previous versions of software based on conditions, reboots and installing new applications. For this topic OSD doesn't play a part as the task sequnce is ran within windows. Since updating SCCM 2012 config manager to 1511 application task sequences that previously worked via direct deployment to either a machine collection or the application catalog (via a powershell script). Since the update the task sequence always fails the first time it is sent to or requested by a client computer, if you wait for the automatic retry or manually re-run the task sequence from software center it always works fine. Appreciate any advice or help? Cheers

I'm needing some clarification and assistance here. I'm providing some background as well. This is my first foray in to this process, so the simpler and more thorough the explanations are, the better it will be. We're running Config. Mgr. 2007 in Mixed Mode (can't go Native at this point) in our corporate domain. We have a primary server with a SEPARATE SQL server housing the database, and no secondary servers. We also have 20 servers in our DMZ. Some are in workgroups. The rest are members of one of several AD Domains in the DMZ. There is no trusted relationship between the DMZ and our internal corporate domain, nor between the domains in the DMZ. I want to use SCCM to distribute a limited number of applications, 3 to 5, to all the DMZ servers, automating the process like we are currently doing, on our INTRANET. We will NOT need to manage mobile clients. It is strictly for automating app distribution to our DMZ servers. We want to continue using a single Configuration Manager server on our INTRANET and merely have CM Clients running on the servers in the DMZ, communicating to the INTRANET CM 2007 server. First, is there some comprehensive, yet understandable documentation that I can refer to that will assist me in this process. (required protocols, network configuration, configuration manager components needing to be installed, and WHERE the components need to reside, etc . . . ) Second, what suggestions or recommendations do you have for accomplishing this. Thanks in advance for your assistance and information

Hello, I am trying to install the config manager on my another team members PC but am coming across the below error; I have given them full admin rights on sccm and have given them the same rignts as myself on AD. They can remote on using MSTSC. I have Windows 8.1 they have XP could this be the reason?

Hi Gurus , I would like to come up with a design for SCCM 2012 as I think it is a good time to migrate from SCCM 2007. I am planning to do it on Server 2012 and SQL 2012. I have a management forest, and multiple forest’s below this with only a one way trust (the management forest does not trust anything). I currently run SCCM 2007 and have a Central Site with Primary Sites nested below this. Sincethis is not supported in 2012 and the Primary Site with Secondary Sites nested below is not supported across untrusted domains I have hit a snag and want to make sure my design will work. From what I read, we do not have near enough servers to manage to require a CAS, although this is the case would our inter forest environment require a CAS to manage multiple un-trusted forests? I was thinking of installing a primary site and then installing management roles on a server in each forest that we will be managing. Would that be a good start? Please keep in mind that we would also like to integrate Forefront Endpoint Protection into this design. With this design, would I need a SQL server in each of the domains? I am also wondering if the following site roles would be enough for a management server in each forest? Management Point Distribution Point Software Update Point I would greatly appreciate your help as I don’t want to implement a flawed design

I have a laptop that has 2 HDDs. I am trying to deploy an OS image (to Disk 0) but it keeps failing at the Apply Operating System Image. I have task sequences set up to format and partition both drives. It formats correctly and when it gets to Applying OS Image it fails. If i remove the secondary drive, and apply the OS image it completes successfully. I have attached my SMSTS logs and some screenshots. BIOS is set to AHCI. Thanks for any help. smsts.log smsts-20130523-175650.log
