namahs Posted February 20, 2014 Report post Posted February 20, 2014 Just wanted to get some insight to see if anyone have upgrade from SCCM 2012 RTM to R2? I understand that I have to first upgrade to SP1. Is there a wait time after upgrading to SP1 for the database or can you just jump to R2 right after SP1. After running thru the steps below, can I just upgrade the client from 2012 RTM to the 2012 R2 client? Does the 2012 RTM client still communicate with the upgraded SCCM 2012 R2 server? you can still push out deployment with no issues? 2012 RTM to SP1 Uninstall Windows Automated Installation Kit Install ADK 8.0 Install WSUS hotfix support Windows 8 Add A/V exclusion for OSD files Install WMF 3.0 Run testdbupgrade on copy database Run Configuration Manager 2012 SP1 SETUP View logs for any errors 2012 SP1 to R2 Uninstall ADK 8.0 Install ADK 8.1 Run Configration Manager 2012 R2 SETUP View logs for any errors
kevlar01 Posted February 21, 2014 Report post Posted February 21, 2014 It can be done right away afterwards. However, I'd like to recommend you to create a backup after upgrading to SP1, just to be sure. I've documented the steps in my blog: http://it-immensa.blogspot.nl/2014/01/howto-upgrade-sccm-2012-rtm-to-r2-part-1.html
