SCCM 2012 R2 - Slowness with "building list of programs to run from software package"

Question

We have a SCCM 2012 R2 environment and will be using thumb drives for OS deployment. Using the thumb drive method is a big hassle and time saver versus going over the network, but I'm looking to optimize the process as much as possible. I've noticed that with many software installs during the task sequence, SCCM will sit on "Building list of programs to run from package" for several minutes before actually installing the application. In some cases it's very excessive and is causing the deployment to last much longer than it should.

Has anyone on this board had experience with offline media deployments like this, and what did you do to remedy this problem?

Correction -- the CU helped substantially helped after I hacked in the patch for the CU1 configmgr client. Case closed.

Can you tell us how you "hacked in" the patch? I am applying CU1 as a Run Command Line with:

msiexec.exe /p "C:\_SMSTaskSequence\OSD\<PKG ID>\i386\configmgr2012ac-r2-kb2938441-i386.msp" /qn

but it does not seem to make a difference ("Building list of programs to run" still takes forever to execute). I am pointing to C:\_SMSTaskSequence since I am using offline media.
