+++ Application not discovered

using sccm 2012 r2 - when deploying an application wisescript compiled exe i have used the detection method of file version and it installed but then i get +++ Application not discovered in the appenforcelog has anyone run into this?

If the installation was successful, this means that your discovery rule is not correct.

I created the detection rule by browsing to a pc with the app installed and selecting the exe and version - it installed correctly but failed the post install detection - so what am i doing wrong? how can i determine why the rule does not see the app after a good install?

Did you manually check the machine and the version of the executable?

Ah, so it uses the rule NOT ONLY for check before install, but also for check AFTER install.

 

Which makes life difficult if one needed Application to only execute something (behaving like shortcut)

Correct. For running something like a simple script it's still the best to use an old-school package.
