OSD WinPe fails after sccm 2012 RTM/SP1/R2 upgrade

Recommended Posts

System: Vmware 5.5

Site server: Win 2008 R2; SCCM 2012 R2

PXE and DP: Win 2008 R2

SQL server: Win 2008 R2; SQL 2008 R2

  • Deployment of Win 7 OSD task sequence fails
  • PXE OK
  • WinPe attempts to load but fails
  • F8 shows TCP/IP OK i.e. can ping MP from command prompt
  • Have tried multiple variations of boot images
  • smsts.log shows: Failed to get information for MP: HTTP://myserver.internal
  • Have tried numerous MPs
  • One scenario works - WinPE 3.1 x64 boot image can successfully deploy a x64 bit Win 7 image (go figure)
  • Have spent 3 weeks trying to solve this problem

I have to confess that when this problem occured after upgrading from RTM to SP1, I then upgraded to R2.

Any expert troubleshooting tips would be gratefully accepted.

Many thanks

Raymond

Does anyone have any idea why a 64 bit deployment is OK, but 32 bit fails even though IP config is (seems) OK?

Could WinPE be attempting to contact the MP before the NIC is configured?
