application deployed, how do I force clients start the installation

Recommended Posts

Hi
I have SCCM 2012 R2. I have created an application (Office 2013) to be deployed to few Windows 7 clients which are in a collection.

1
I have deployed this application to the collection about 20 minutes ago. How long it will take the client to retrieve this deployment so that the installation process will start.

2
I know I can go to the Windows 7 workstation >> Control Panel >> Config Manager >> Actions and run Machine Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle threshold to force the installation instantly. Is there anyway to force from the SCCM server ?

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

You can get the right click tools that will allow you to centrally initiate client policies on collections of PCs or single out PCs as you wish.

Highly recommend these tools.

The default client polling policy is 60 mins.

Within the SCCM 2012 console: Administration -> Client Settings

From there, you'll see "Default Client Settings", or if you're using custom settings profiles, those will also show up. Look for "Client Policy" in those profiles. The default is 60 minutes, which should be adequate. Trying to crank that up too much could have ill effects on your network traffic.
