Kops Posted August 20, 2014 Report post Posted August 20, 2014 I recently read an article online about a few software updates that were causing occasional blue screens and other errors for some users. This got me thinking, have we deployed it? And if so - what if I wanted to recall it? First, I searched Software Library > All Software Updates for the KB number (2982791) and found that it had been deployed...I think? See attached. The icon on the left indicates to me that it is an expired update. What I'm not clear on is the Required/Installed/Percent Compliant/Downloaded/Deployed fields and what they actually mean. I can get that it is no longer deployed, so that field is No. And 64% compliance means that it installed on 64% of the targeted computers. But why does Installed say No? Is 61 required referring to 61 devices require the update? I figure that I could push a script/package, or even use a task sequence to run a command on a collection to uninstall the update. Just not too clear on how to interpret those fields, and if I could get more information on this somehow? Thanks, Kops
jorlando Posted August 20, 2014 Report post Posted August 20, 2014 I never really liked how SCCM calculates compliance. Here is how it works. If an update is needed on 10 machines, installed on 10 machines, and not required on 80 machines (total of 100 machines) it would calculate compliance as 90%. 10% for the installs and another 80% for machines that do not require the update at all. In my world compliance would actually be 50% since 10 out of 20 machines need the update. In your screen shot I can see 61 machines need the highlighted update, 0 have it installed, 471 do not need the update, and 208 are unknown (Total 740 under the pie). So, SCCM calculates that out of the 532 machines that have been evaluated (61+471) 471 have it or dont need it. so 471/740 = 63.64% If I do the math you are 0% saturated. 61 machines need it and 0 have it! Kops Posted August 20, 2014 Report post Posted August 20, 2014 Wow, that is sort of a weird way to calculate compliance, but I guess it sort of makes sense in that 90% of the systems are configured correctly (in your example). Thanks for clearing that up for me
