xXZeroXx Posted March 7, 2015 Report post Posted March 7, 2015 Hello, I am in the process of evaluating SCCM 2012 R2 for my organization. I currently SCCM with MDT setup in a test environment and working. In my test environment I currently have lite touch OS deployments working. I would like to be able to tell a workstation to update or refresh in a Zero touch deployment, but I am just unsure on how to create/edit task sequences to accomplish this for the following environment scenarios. Scenario 1: I would like to be able to have SCCM completely wipe a workstation without backing up any kind of user data. This environment would be used in Labs where we do not need to backup or store any user data. this is where the Zero Touch OS deployment would be nice. Scenario 2: I would like to be able to have SCCM do the same as Scenario 1 but backup the user data. I kind of have this working not sure if I did it correctly. Any links or advice that anyone has would be greatly appreciated Thank you ~Zero
anyweb Posted March 7, 2015 Report post Posted March 7, 2015 well if you truly want zero touch the first thing you'll want to do is create some collections to deploy the required task sequences to, as only one required (mandatory) task sequence can be deployed to a collection at a time secondly, only add computers to those collections if you are absolutely sure they will be reimaged as designed as there's no going back once they receive the policy, for the different scenarios listed above, one will need usmt capture/restore steps, the other will not, in other words, two separate task sequences to cover the different scenarios
