jbsmith Posted March 13, 2015 Report post Posted March 13, 2015 I went to try to enable this function on our SCCM Primary site. Our SQL is set up on a separate server. When I try to run the SMS_SITE_BACKUP I receive the following error (see bolded sections). I have googled and tried various fixes for hours with no luck. The most common suggestions are to check all services on SCCM Primary site and SQL server- all related services on both the primary site and sql server seem to be running/starting/stopping fine. Other suggestions tried - verify SMS writer and SQL writer as existing and functioning and also making sure NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM on SQL server has sysadmin rights on SMS_XXX database. Has anyone ran into this problem or would have any more suggestions Thanks! After GatherWriterMetadata SMS Writer status = FAILED_AT_PREPARE_BACKUP. CJamesEd Posted April 3, 2017 Report post Posted April 3, 2017 Has anyone had any luck with this issue? I'm seeing almost the exact errors and can't figure out what's going on!
pembertj Posted April 3, 2017 Report post Posted April 3, 2017 As stupid as it seems I think when I ran into this it was because there is another database in the same instance that has a space in the name. https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/batala/2011/08/01/sqlserverwriter-missing-when-vssadmin-list-writers-command-is-run/
