jrgonzalez_nyc Posted April 16, 2015 Report post Posted April 16, 2015 Hello, My question is regarding applying driver packages during OSD and issues after the image is laid down. I recently updated my Dell Latitude E6420 Windows 7 x86 driver package with the latest cab file from Dells website. After creating the new driver package and applying it to the OSD task sequence, I have had reports that some E6420's are having problems getting stuck on the Windows Start Splash Screen. After several reboots the users state that it is intermittent but that it continues to hang on the windows start screen. However, I also have an E6420 and I cannot recreate the problem. Which logs should I be looking at on the problem computers? Could this have to do with BIOS settings for SATA operation being on either AHCI or RAID on? Video Driver possibly? Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers, Joe
richard.davignon Posted April 22, 2015 Report post Posted April 22, 2015 I never use the CAB files. When I get brand new machines, I boot them up, make an account and pull the drivers off with a program called Double Driver. It works well. It only pulls off the inf files. habofudon Posted March 11, 2017 Report post Posted March 11, 2017 After your entire post i understand that your main issue is that your PC hangs on Start Screen. Don't be panic as i have very effective and result oriented solution for you: To boot into safe mode, please follow the instructions below: Start the computer Tap 'F8' on the keyboard immediately and every one second until the Dell logo screen disappears. From there you will see the Windows Advanced Options Menu on the screen. (If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, restart the system and try again.) Select Safe mode with Networking and press Enter Log on as the administrator or as a user with administrative access Check Dell Latitude E6420 Manual- https://guideusermanual.com/product-name-latitude-e6420-manual&po=344640〈=English for more ideas. jubjubrsx Posted March 20, 2017 Report post Posted March 20, 2017 I use the dell SCCM integration part to generate the driver packages...works pretty well all in all just choose what you want and it builds it and does everything except distribute it.
