Update rollup for System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1

Question

A update rollup package is available that enables Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) to support clients that are running Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7. This update addresses the following issues:

Issue 1

Windows Server 2008 R2 clients and Windows 7 clients cannot register themselves to Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 site servers that have their management point role set to native mode.

Therefore, the management points cannot provide these clients with installation prerequisites, client installation files, configuration details, advertisements, and software distribution package source file locations. Additionally, the management points cannot receive inventory data, software metering information, and status and state messages from these clients.

Issue 2

The SMS Agent Host service (CcmExec.exe) crashes when it handles the pending Statement of Health (SoH) updates on Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7 clients.

Therefore, Windows Server 2008 R2 clients or Windows 7 clients may randomly have an incorrect SoH state. In this case, Network Access Protection (NAP) compliant clients cannot access network resources. Non-NAP compliant clients have unlimited network access.
