I am having trouble getting USMT to capture anything. We need to do a side-by-side. We are upgrading 300 users to new hardware but we're going from Windows 7 to Windows 7 and we want to use USMT so users can keep their settings etc....


I have added the state migration point to my 1 and only primary server. I set it up like this:


d:\StateMigration

Max number of clients 100

mimimum free space 100GB



I have created a new USMT package.


This package contains source = Yes


Data source: \\sccm12-01\d$\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\Assessment and Deployment Kit\User State Migration Tool


create program = No



I have created a new task sequence. It has 4 steps.


request state store

capture user state (I choose my usmt package here)

capture windows settings

release state store



I PXE boot up a machine, choose this task sequence and it never runs. in fact it never even runs "request state store" it just reboots.
