erstaunlich Posted September 4, 2015 Report post Posted September 4, 2015 We have about 600 Venue Pro 5130 machines in our district, and we are running into a bit of trouble. We have all the drivers in the Boot x86 image (we also have a Boot x64, but these are 32-bit machines), and have the TS advertised to all unknown and known computers in the system, but only available via PXE. The issue is that whenever we UEFI boot for IPv4, it receives an IP address and then 'Succeed to Download NBP File' and then flashes and moves on to the next boot device. It never loads the WinPE environment or loads the boot image. Looking at the SMSPXE.log file, there isn't even a reference to the MAC address of the USB Dongle we are using, and we are 100% sure they are compatible with the Venue's PXE requirements (the Dell 0TFXX8 or SMSC LAN). Any thoughts?
Jorgen Nilsson Posted September 6, 2015 Report post Posted September 6, 2015 Hi, What server OS are the DP that is used to PXE boot from using? Windows 2008 R2 doesn't support PXE booting 32 Bit-UEFI devices for instance so that can be one factor. Are you using DHCP Options or IP Helpers to point out the PXE server? IP Helpers is the only thing that will work, if you use DHCP Options and specify the boot loader it will not work as ít is a different one for UEFI. erstaunlich Posted September 8, 2015 Report post Posted September 8, 2015 Thanks for the resoponse! We are running a Windows Server 2012 (SCCM 2012 R2) that PXE is pushing from. We are using DHCP options, which work for literally every other device in our district. It's just odd that it worked awhile ago. I know it may sound like a dumb question, but how can I configure IP Helpers? I haven't ever done that before. Thanks for your help! Peter van der Woude Posted September 8, 2015 Report post Posted September 8, 2015 IP Helpers are configured on your network devices, so the configuration depends completely on the brand and type of those devices. Often those vendors have clear documentation about the configuration of IP Helpers.
phil_w Posted September 9, 2015 Report post Posted September 9, 2015 It is possible to use DHCP options to PXE boot UEFI devices by adding option 60, however doing so prevents legacy devices from working so it's only an option if you use solely UEFI. As the others have said, IP helper on your network infrastructure devices is the best solution.
