Problems with SCCM 2007 SP2 + MDT 2010

Question

Hi,

I've been evaluating the use of SCCM - err ConfigMgr like Microsoft would like you to call it - and I've came across MDT 2010.

This seemed interesting so I've installed it. I was running R2 but since I've read it requires SP2 I've upgraded my installation.

This however did not change the situation.

I am trying to generate a MDT Boot image from the SCCM mmc. This process is working hard and then suddenly complains that "The ConfigMgr reported an error".

Geeh sparky, seriously? Really informative :)

smsprov.log states the following:

[FC4][Fri 10/09/2009 11:57:52]:Using SMS SERVICE Account for impersonation

[FC4][Fri 10/09/2009 11:57:52]:SMS ACCOUNT WORK SUCCEEDED

[FC4][Fri 10/09/2009 11:57:52]:GetStorage : doing Loggin due to aged out context

[FC4][Fri 10/09/2009 11:57:52]: -- Updating NT User Group membership.

[FC4][Fri 10/09/2009 11:57:52]:Image language ID 1043 and nl-NL

[FC4][Fri 10/09/2009 11:57:53]:Image language ID 1043 and nl-NL

[FC4][Fri 10/09/2009 11:57:53]:ERROR> failed to mount wim file err=-2147024894

Google nor this site's search is giving me any useful hits.

I was wondering, does anyone know how to fix this? I tried downgrading WAIK but this didn't seem to work either.

Looking forward to your replies!

Thanks in advance.

and the account that you installed sccm with and are using is a local administrator of the server ? I had no such problems, have you tried to uninstall the WAIK in programs and features, reboot, reinstall the waik or reinstall the RC sp2 ?

The account that installed (and manages) everything is the Domain Admin account, which should have sufficient rights, right? :)

That user is a member of the Local Administrators group.

WAIK has been uninstalled a few times and reinstalled, I've tried various WAIK versions but all of them produce the same results.

hi all.

Iam also facing this problem , here my server 2008 r2 (64 bit) version=6.1.7600 runs with SCCM 2007 r2, but i could not add boot image using microsoft deployment server . I hope it may be the problem with WAIK but i installed the highest version of WAIK version 6.1.7600.

and i could not import task sequence in the SCCM .

i think you guys are having the same problem as this

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrosd/thread/70b3f6e4-6629-4e88-bc11-33b69fa2516b/#ceddfba7-87fb-48da-80d9-38d07f32dd00

and I quote:

In our situation I was running SCCM SP2 on a 64 bit OS.

Check your PATH system variable and ensure the path DOES NOT include a x86 bit path for Windows Imaging. In my case the PATH system variable included "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Imaging\" (which I'm thinking is a 32 bit version of AIK).. in the path was also "C:\Program Files\Windows Imaging\" (64 bit version of AIK), but apparantly there was an erroneous reference to a x86 version causing the issue.

Took out the (x86) path from the PATH System Variable and Custom MDT boot images are back..

THANKS much especially to Niall who spent many hours with my trying to get resolved.
