0 Peter van der Woude Posted October 14, 2009 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 When you are going to use PXE, you need WDS
0 anyweb Posted October 14, 2009 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 if you have more than one PXE boot server you can use a WDS trick to choose which PXE server to boot from see here
0 sccm_freak Posted October 14, 2009 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 yes i will use PXE because im using the PXE role in SCCM ok so ill configure WDS on the SCCM server and just change the delay to 5 seconds , and the delay in SCCM to be 3 secs , correct ? 0 anyweb Posted October 14, 2009 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 you dont need to change WDS at all, the suggestions in the guide are for a lab where WDS was the sole method of deployment prior to SCCM, use what works for you, and test everything. 0 anyweb Posted October 14, 2009 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 if you want to deploy vista using PXE boot via SCCM then you'll need WDS installed. do all your configuring in SCCM. cheers niall
0 sccm_freak Posted October 14, 2009 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 oh ok , thanks so still i need the WDS ok if you have time please reply on this topic http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/1312-mdt-acting-weird/
0 Rajiv Posted January 29, 2010 Report post Posted January 29, 2010 BTW, If you already installed Windows 2003 SP2, you do not need to install WDS. It is already included in SP2 I heard it here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc766320(WS.10).aspx#BKMK_InstallingWDS Then I checked my win2k3 server and yes it already had SP2. You need to go to add-remove programs and then Add/remove windows components. There you will see WDS, you need to install it!
