wim image transfer via multicast is not happening

So checked all logs as per: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb932135.aspx

 

MCS is enabled - had to re-install it, as per

Image is multicast enabled:

But I am sure image is NOT delivered via multicast (definitely there is no multicast mentioned on client screen). smsts.log has multicast location mention, and not a single fail or error

 

None of the logs involved have any error apart from:

 

MCSIsapi.log

Looking for: S:\SCCMContentLib\DataLib\SP1000B7*
Failed to find the package.

The package (image) got fully re-distributed, it definitely EXISTS in S:\SCCMContentLib\DataLib

 

 

 

If I enable in (test) image properties to ONLY deliver the image via multicast then (test) TS fails instantly on Apply OS, but with NOT a single mention of fail in the smsts.log

After weeks of poking around, it might have been the issue of rights

 

Added computername\IIS_IUSRS to NTFS permissions of ?:\SCCMContentLib & it seems that mcsexec.log shows

But the speed of transfer of the .wim from https://sccmserver.domain.local/SMS_DP_SMSPKG$/SP1000B7

is beyond tragic! It was way faster to pull the image from DP directly

 

Any idea why it is so slow?

 

Unicast 3 PCs download 13Gb wim takes ~ 10 min, same image over multicast takes 90 min with default values on 1Gb switched network

I made few changes to:

 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WDSServer\Providers\WDSMC\Protocol

 

ApBlockSizeV4 = 1385

TpMulticastTTL = 5

TpMaxBandwidth = 10

 

and 13 Gb is now 25 min (still way too long)

 

But that comes from Hyper-V VM, so there might be some extra settings required elsewhere (anybody knows?)

I'm having exactly this issue now. I inhertited this SCCM install. How can I determine what my equivalent of the computername\IIS_IUSRS is?

It is the exactly same name in every environment - computername\IIS_IUSRS

 

But I gave up on Multicast, as it was WAY too slow, even with single client

I tried multicast once but with how long it was taking I decided to just drop it and go with direct downloads as it is way faster.
