Software Updates % Compliant makes no sense?

So I rebuilt SCCM 2012 on Current Branch and have all sorts of clients reporting in for Win7x64 updates, however some flat out stupid things are showing in the console.

 

For example, I'm seeing that the update is not required for any of the 242 devices that SCCM has identified it is compatible with, but then % compliant is showing...67%!

You've to create a group with the updates, create a package, distribute the package and then deploy the group of updates.

 

On a client, open the agent and run the "software update scan cycle" and then "software update deployment evaluation cycle"...

 

Open the group and you should see the inside of that group the compliance (needed or not, required or not). But I guess it's better to look into the reports and not to the console to have the right number.

I’m willing to bet that you have ~120 computer listed in the unknown column. Therefore 242/(242+120) = ~67%

 

Having unknown computer will affect your compliance numbers.

That does in fact appear to be the issue.

 

That being said, how do I get those 48 unknown devices to be "known" or would those be devices that show up in inventory, but do not yet have an agent installed on them?

You need to install the CM client on them and make sure that is it working correctly.
