act_cpsb Posted August 12, 2016 Report post Posted August 12, 2016 So I might not be understanding the Unknown Computers aspect of SCCM. Or I might be just looking for an unusual solution to an annoying problem. Our Dell Windows 10 computers are seeing about 40% failure rate in joining the domain out of the box, from the factory. Imaging these computers via SCCM works for most but some individual computers are failing repeatedly to join the domain even in the task sequence. After multiple attempts they eventually successfully join through imaging, I guess they just get bored and give in. I opened F8 on one and constantly pinged the DC while imaging and it never dropped yet still failed to join. We have ruled out network based causes and it seems to be either the NIC is falling alseep, something with Dell Image Assist is acting up or maybe the hardware is just faulty. As a possible workaround, could the Unknown Computers collection be used to launch a task that has some checks built in to make sure it joins the domain? Insight appreciated. Grasping at straws to figure this out.
