A little background

I completed a SCCM restore using the backed up site data base. I didn't mess with the reporting database at all left them in place just replacing the site database. Now I am getting the following message in the monitoring.

Site Component Manager failed to install this component on this site system.

Solution: Review the previous status messages to determine the exact reason for the failure. Site Component Manager will automatically retry the installation in 60 minutes. To force Site Component Manager to immediately retry the installation, stop and restart Site Component Manager using the Configuration Manager Service Manager.

I also noticed when I click on reporting and try to click on my hyperlinks http://servername/reports and https://servername/reportserver I get the following error.

 

The version of the report server
database is either in a format that is not valid, or it cannot be read. The
found version is '162'. The expected version is '163'.
(rsInvalidReportServerDatabase)

 

 

Please let me know if you have seen this. Thanks.

This means that you are having SQL issues and need to fix your SSRS / SQL install. This has nothing to do with CM12.

The error message is clear.. Reinstall SSRS.

I reinstalled SSRS and get the same error. Do I need to upgrade SQL Server 2012 if I am running SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 CU3?

So you drop your database and reinstalled SSRS? Or is your database remote to SSRS?

The database is on a different server. I uninstalled the reporting services point on my sccm server. I dropped the database and reinstalled it. I then reinstalled the reporting services point.

What exactly do you mean by "I dropped the database and reinstalled it."?

Why didn't you let SSRS create a new database?

Now I am getting the following error:

The report server service is not running on Reporting Service Point server. Even though it is running. I restarted the SQLServer(Instance) service even though it was running.

I was able to fix this by changing the database to the new one in the Reporting Services Configuration Manager Thanks.

So for other that find this post, to be clear, you MUST create a new database and NOT reuse the old database. Yes this will mean you loose any custom reports you have imported into CM but you import those RDL again and everything will be back to normal.
