Unable to Deploy XP through SCCM 2007

I am unable to deploy XP using PXE boot, while booting through PXE, before getting Task Sequence selection option it is automatically restarting, it is grabbing the IP address from the DHCP server. please advise.

If the computer is rebooting then its a sure shot issue with the Drivers that you are using for Network Card. The Thumb rule for deploying OS using OSD says that you need Network Drivers which are compatible with Windows Vista / Windows 2008, it doesn't matter which OS you are deploying.

 

Eg. If you are deploy Windows XP to a Dell E6300 Notebook. Then you can simply go to Dell's website and download the Network Card drivers for the laptop and make sure you select the option for Windows Vista or Windows 2008. Then you need to add import these drivers to SCCM. Once imported, you need to put them in the Boot Image by going to the Properties of the Boot Image > Windows PE Tab. Once they are there, make sure that you update the DP and then try to run the TS again. It should work.

^^ what he said, and enable F8 support on the boot image you are using as per this post

 

then press F8 support when you get to the PE Environment, and in a command prompt do a ipconfig/all and ping to your sccm server....

 

recover your log file from x:\Windows\Temp\SMSTSLog\smsts.log and post here....we have more detail to work with then :-)
