SCCM SP2 – Distribution Manager problem

Question

The distribution manager (distmgr, the component that is responsible for distributing the packages to the distribution point) seems to be not quite working as one would expect with SP2. Don't panic, this seems to affect only the way DistMgr fails to distribute a package to a DP, see below.

It relates to the "Number of retries" - and "Delay before retrying" settings:

The "Number of retries" and "delay" are ignored (after reaching the maximum it is started again from scratch and does not wait the configured time, but only 10 seconds). Another MVP has confirmed this behaviour too. I have already sent a mail to Seattle. As soon as there is news, I'll provide an update!

I am wondering if you can tell me if this known issue would generate many informational messages for the distribution manager component? I am getting 1000s. I updated a package this morning. I can see that it is still sending to the sites and I have over 5000s (Message IDs 2300, 2301 and 2342). I had a DP that was having an issue with drivers package and I had over 19,000 informational messages. Just hoping I can find something to explain this. (As a note, I recently added R2 also). Thanks so much!
