Windows 10 in-place upgrade task sequence fails

I created an upgrade package in SCCM and the task sequence runs fine on a VM, but when I try it on a physical laptop it fails. The error is just the generic code and the smstslog just stops, no errors. here is the error screen shot and log.

where is the other smsts.log it probably contains the actual failure message

It is uploaded, I am running another image on that laptop now. The image I tried to upgrade has Avast on it and even though I removed it I am thinking it could be the culprit. The virtual PC that worked had Webroot. I uploaded the SMSTS log earlier. Here it is again.

that is not the smsts.log that is another one with the date/time added to it, which happens often when logs are rolled over and a new one is generated, the original log file must be there somewhere (probably c:\windows\ccm\logs\smstslog)

can you double check (there can be two)

Sorry that was from the client, this is from the server.  If you need the original client file I will have to wait for this image to be done and try the cycle over again.

i need the logs from the client only, but more than likely it is your AV software 'blocking' the upgrade, this can be seen by examining the xml files created in the C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\  folder

 

if it fails again, inlcude the log+xml files in a zip from that folder and attach them here

I re-imaged the laptop yesterday with one our teacher images. Student computers get Avast  for Business and our teacher/administrator computers get webroot. It upgraded fine with the webroot so Avast is the culprit even when uninstalled  the upgrade fails. Thanks
