MP error : Call to HttpSendRequestSync failed for port 8531 with status code 404, text: Not Found

Greetings,

I have just recently started working with SCCM as of a couple of weeks ago (inherited a company's system that uses it) and have had to jump in the deep end with it ... I've been stumped with a problem that I've tried to sort for the past week but not having any success. 

I'm hoping that someone here would have seen this problem before to kindly provide me with some pointers on where to go to get this working please  ?

After installing the MP role, I am seeing the following entries in mpcontrol.log repeating every 5 minutes (errors at the bottom)  :

The Status Message Viewer shows SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER logs the following error with the red cross icon :

MP Control Manager detected management point is not responding to HTTP requests.  The HTTP status code and text is 404, Not Found.

 

My apologies if I've left anything out, I'm new here and still learning about this incredible forum and this incredible tool !
