AD Groups Changing Domain Property in SCCM Console

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

We have one CAS and one Primary server running SCCM 1802. We have one major domain AD.XYZ.com with domain netbios name as PQR.com. There are few other smaller domains.

The domain name field for our clients and AD Groups appeared as PQR in the SCCM console. All our query based collections were set up with PQR\<AD Group name>.  This setup had been running for years without issues, till last week.

Last week we observed that collections based on AD user group based were losing membership and most collection were reduced with 0 members. On investigation we found that the domain property in the SCCM console had changed from PQR to AD for the AD groups. Also, AD user group names had changed from PQR\<Ad group name> to AD\<Ad group name>.  To fix the collections, we updated queries in our collections and changed it to AD\<Ad group name>.

The domain name change did not last long and the AD groups domain name changed back to PQR and again our collections reduced with 0 members. We updated the collections again and inserted % instead of the domain name and fixed the collections.

Now we have been tasked with finding the reason for this sudden change in domain name property.

Can someone please help me with finding the reason for sudden change in domain name property in SCCM console?

Regards

Raju
