SUP For Updates

Question

I am wanting to deploy monthy windows updates and have installed sccm and created a sup per the guides here. All machines are populated into collections, all updates are configured and downloaded, and I have created a deployment package...I have installed the client to test machines but they are not receiving updates. Am I not understanding how all this works or am I doing something obviously wrong? I have been through all the setup and config guides here (which are great by the way) but I still must be missing something. Any help would be appreciated.

can you deploy a test package to the clients (like the firefox application example) ? if that works at least we know you have communication...

is the firewall enabled on the clients ? what do the logs on your CLIENT tell you ?

has the deadline for the software update been set?

cheers

thanks for the reply,

I cant get anything to deploy

The firewall is turned off on the client

which logs?

the deadline has been set for tomorrow at 11:30am

looking around at other posts and comparing settings I have noticed that on the client in control panel under configuration manager under the action tab I only have two actions listed (machine policy retrieval/ user policy retrieval & evaluation cycle)

Thanks for the help
