SCCM Client not discovering site

Question

Hi,

I have SCCM 2007 SP2 installed on Server 2008 R1 with SQL 2008 standard. I have deployed the client using client push to a Windows 7 machine, this works fine, but the machine cannot discover the site. I have done the following so far :_

1. Extended AD Schema

2. Created the System Management container and given the server full control.

3. The server has populated the container

The client log (locationservices)

LSGetSiteVersionFromAD : Failed to retrieve version for the site 'MPC' (0x80004005)

Attempting to retrieve SLPs from AD

Failed to resolve 'SMS_SLP' to IP address from WINS

LSGetSiteVersionFromSLP : Unable to get the list of SLPs

LSVerifySiteVersion: Failed to get Site Version from AD and SLP

The annoying thing is I havent got the role Server Locator Point installed as the Management point is published in AD. Any help would be much appreciated as this is now the last stumbling block (hopefully)

what discovery methods have you setup/configured ? what does your ccm.log say on the client ? what does the mpcontrol.log

I have AD System discovery and AD user discovery enabled and heartbeat enabled.

The ccmlog has only got one error during installation "---> Unable to connect to WMI ® on remote machine "MPL007566", error = 0x8004100e." ap[art from that the log finishes install. MPlog :-

Call to HttpSendRequestSync succeeded for port 80 with status code 200, text: OK

Http test request succeeded.

Successfully performed Device Management Point availability check against local computer.

no errors in the last 24 hours. I can ping the server from the client also.

ok then you'll have to tell me more about your lab/setup then, because something is not configured correctly... have you tried pushing the client again, watching it install in task manager processes (ccmsetup.exe) and then seeing if it lists the site code ?

is client push configured like so ?

To setup SCCM i followed this sites setup on everything. (by the way, great site) I have SCCM 2007 SP2 on Server 2008 with SQL 2008 installed on the same server. Al of the roles are being hosted on this server. I have 4 sites in AD and at the moment this is the only site I want to configure. AD is extended in the domain and has populated the System Management container. The ExtADsc.log file has no errors. The server has local admin rights to the client PC and also the admin account for sccm does. The server has full control of the system management container along with the admin account.

nything else you need to know? i can provide screen shots if necessary
