ADB

TS for capturing

Question

I've tried the modified xml of Anyweb's but didnt work out.

after having run sysprep in OOBE and Shut down Mode I should capture the reference machine.

My question: Are there any spezial modifications (beside the workgourp joining and the blank Admin Password) in the TS to capture an allready setup windows 7 OS with Applications in it?

Do I have to install the ConfigMgr Client on the reference machine to capture it?

Would be grateful for any inputs here...

yes you should have the configmgr client on it, what error did you get anna ?

Actually I fail with the Boot Manager, saying that it doesnt contain a vaild OS entry... \Boot\BCD

My problem is that I can't find the smsts.log. is it on the reference machine? NOT ON MINE...

Another problem i guess is that I changed the registry entries on the Winlogon. but wasn't sure on which machine. I did it on the SCCM/WDS machine.

What do you mean by: "you will have to supply it with two packages namely your X86 boot image and a new package called AutoLogin_windows7"?

Right now i am not sure if I should create a TS that build-n-captures or only captures.

thanks Niall

first things first do you have a working Windows 7 image which you want to capture ? if yes then make sure it has the configmgr client installed and you can run my ts on it then.

the ts requires two packages, one is the X86 boot image, and the other is the autologin... package, do you need help in creating either of them ?

It does look like i need help here..

I have one vm with winows 7 and apps installed working well, which i want to capture -YES.

where do i get the client from? If I understood it right it was generated in SCCM. Can I get the Client as a file through the network?

The X86 boot image is in my computer management. assigned to both, the server and the smspxe-Distribution Points. But I guess I don't get the "Package"-Philosophy right.

ok if the windows 7 computer is ready then it must be domain joined, is it ? if so is it showing up in the All Systems collection in configmgr ? if so you can right click on that computer in configmgr and choose Install client and go through the wizard... if you open task manager on the client you should see ccmsetup.exe starting up, unless of course your firewall is blocking it or some other problem

so, lets start with the collection, do you see your windows 7 computer in there and does it say client = yes or client = no ?

I see my reference in AllSystems and also in the Build and Capture Collection. But the Client Collum says NO.

I ran the Install-Client Wizard but couldn't see the ccmsetup.exe on my reference machine...

is the firewall on the client temporarily disabled ? did you configure any client installation account for installing configmgr client (must be a local admin account on the client), check your site settings, client push installation account...

Firewall is temporarily off. Added the Account needed. But doesnt work.

Do I have to add some spezial Installation Properties in the Client-Tab of the Client Push Installation Properties?

I managed to install the Client through the AllSystems-Collection. The ccmsetup.exe showed up on the reference machine.

I had to adjust Firewall Rules (spezially allow the program WMI, File and Printer Sharing and to open the ports 80 and 443) and recreate the reference machine through Computer Association (because I used an Alias Name in SCCM instead of the effective Computer Name of the reference). The only thing is that on the Capture and Build-Collection the Client tab still says NO and I don't know how to find the ConfMgr Client on the reference machine.

But still, I guess it worked...

How do I deploy your modified TS to capture and sysprep the reference now?
