USMT Error 12

Hi all,

 

I am trying to set up USMT for my company.

I customized the standard MigUser.xml, MigApp.xml and MigSys.xml (I just deleted stuff I don’t need to be backed up).

 

My command line is:

%programfiles%\USMT301\ScanState.exe L:\%username%\ /i:C:\Temp\USMT\migsys.xml /i:C:\Temp\USMT\migapp.xml /i:C:\Temp\USMT\miguser.xml /o /v:13 /c /localonly /ui:fis\* /targetxp /progress:c:\progress.log

 

Scanstate starts but immediately runs into an unknown xml exception. You can download the progress.log and the scanstate.log from the attachment.

I already validated my XML-Files with the MigXML.xsd; didn’t find any errors.

 

Do you have any ideas what could cause this problem?

you obviously removed more than you needed, as the error means as follows:

 

12 USMT_FAILED_MIGSTARTUP (Error in XML file ‘Bad XML’)

 

so take another look at your xml's and check for typos etc

thank you for your response.

I now tried to use the default XML-Files. Same error Message.

 

Does it matter, that USMT is executed as SYSTEM?

are you doing this in a task sequence or what ?

It simply is a task which runs as local SYSTEM when executed.

ok so it is not part of an SCCM task sequence ? and you are running it via a script ?

 

if you run the same line as a local administrator does it work ?

Hmmm I get the same error when running as administrator...
